Wendy Williams’ Show Ends After a Decade

After a decade of “The Wendy Williams Show,” the show will be ending today. After almost 14 years, the show notorious for controversies and notable guests ends. Williams will not be in attendance, but will instead have a video montage that celebrates the highlights of the show’s run. After struggling with her health and battling Graves’ disease, an autoimmune disorder attacking the thyroid, she has not been on the air since 2020.

Williams’ show will be replaced by a show with the former co-host of “The View” Sherri Shephard. Shephard has been hosting Williams’s show most recently and hosts today’s final episode. Shephard’s show will be titled simply “Sherri” and was announced in February. This announcement was made due to William’s continuing battle with her health.

Williams’ fame started from a radio show, accumulating 12 million listeners due to her candidacy and lack of fear in speaking her mind, which audiences found equally entertaining and admired. But, Williams was also known for her controversies, notably in 2007 when she clashed with singer Whitney Houston. She has said numerous controversial things about people like Lil Kim, Dionne Warwick, and even Meghan Markle. Still, her show entertained many and people often expected the controversy from her. About her controversial interviews, she says “I am often accused of being the person who says things that people really want to say but maybe are too scared to say it.”

Still, despite her controversies, some found Williams iconic and many continue to say that she was still quite entertaining. Some posted threads of her best moments on Twitter in honor of her final show. “I can’t believe The Wendy Williams Show is officially ending tomorrow. She’s a legend, an icon, a problematic fixture who gave us so many pop culture moments. There will never be another Wendy,” one fan noted.
