Travis Kelce Calls Taylor Swift Chiefs Game Appearance ‘Ballsy’
NFL Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is talking about his date with destiny, also known as Taylor Swift. Kelce took to his podcast he shares with his brother Jason Kelce, a center for the Philadelphia Eagles, to talk all about last Sunday’s historic game and his much awaited date.
Jason Kelce jokingly asked his brother “How does it feel now that Taylor Swift has finally put you on the map?” Kelce has long been a respected NFL player, but his burgeoning relationship with Swift has catapulted him into her global fanbase’s radar.
Travis Kelce chimed in saying “Shout out to Taylor for pulling up. That was pretty ballsy. I just thought it was awesome how everybody in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her. She looked amazing, everybody, the friends and family, were talking about her in a great light.”
He went on to describe his admiration for the positive energy at Arrowhead Stadium in her presence, and her high-fiving his mother when he scored a touch down. Kelce went on to say that fans’ dedication with punny Swift-Kelce signs and friendship bracelets was “absolutely hysterical.”
He even dropped a lyrical reference to one of the singer’s tracks when describing their post-game dinner date, recounting “and then we just slid off in the getaway car in the end.” The pair of pro-ball brothers went on to discuss how the Kansas City Chiefs Coach Andy Reid met Swift’s family during his Pennsylvania coaching era, and may have been masterminding matching Taylor and Travis up.
Notably, Swift’s last six-year relationship with actor Joe Alwyn ended several months ago. Alwyn allegedly encouraged Swift to keep their relationship highly private, allegedly inspiring her “Midnights” track “Bejeweled” about missing her shining, spotlit self. In response to the relationship rumors, Kelce said that “he knows he brought this all” to himself, but wants to maintain “respect to both” of their personal lives.
After the brief acknowledgment of the Swift rumors, the brothers answered some simple football 101 questions from Swifties who are newer fans of the Kelce brothers.
The Friendship Bracelet Fumble That Started It All
Kelce has rapidly found fame as an NFL star in his own right, gaining new fans for the “New Heights” podcast he shares with his brother. A few months ago, his home stadium of Arrowhead was converted to a concert venue in the city for Swift’s tour, and the singer left a lasting impression on the NFL tight end.
The Kelce brothers recounted Travis becoming enchanted with Swift, and getting creative with trying to get her attention. The NFL star admitted that he attempted to hand Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it.
The friendship bracelets have become a big part of Swift’s tour experiences, and refer to a lyric from her song “You’re On Your Own Kid,” in which she sings “make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it.” Kelce was following “Eras” etiquette and tried to get creative, but his message was at first lost in translation. The football star revealed his unique bracelet design on the “New Heights” podcast, to his brother’s amusement.
