TikToker Confronts Woman for Filling Her Cart with Baby Formula Due to Shortage

In a recent viral video, a TikToker confronts a woman for wiping the shelves clean of baby food to buy for herself. The video, with over one million views and almost 300 thousand likes, caused quite an amount of discussion in the comments, as the lack of baby formula is becoming one of the biggest concerns right now, and for good reason. Right now, due to a company having to recall several of their baby food products and partially due to the pandemic as well, parents are unable to find the formula needed for their baby’s survival. So, when this woman saw a woman stock up on all of the baby food, she had to say something.

The original poster says that the woman in the video was his younger sister, who is a first-time mother. As the woman tries to explain why it is not okay for her to take all the food, the other woman does not budge, saying she needs the food. Although the woman tries to say that she needs the formula, along with other mothers, the woman does not change her mind. The creator later posts the entire interaction in a follow-up video.

This opened up a conversation online, and for many, it brought back memories of those who hoarded toilet paper and hand sanitizer at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. Others believed that the woman was probably reselling it, which is, unfortunately, a reality.

In a follow-up video, the creator talks about how people are saying to opt for breastfeeding instead of formula. He then asks what someone should do if they survived breast cancer and a double mastectomy, making them unable to breastfeed. This is a reality for many living through the shortage, as there are a number of reasons why someone uses formula instead of breastfeeding. “And others (like myself) who tried EVERYTHING and still couldn’t produce milk with all 3 kids! There’s no excuse for that lady taking all that,” one person noted. Overall, the baby formula shortage continues to be an extreme stressor for mothers, as newborns rely on it for nourishment.
