“All I Remember Was, I heard It”: Teen TikTok Star Ava Majury Opens Up About Stalker Shooting
TikTok star Ava Majury, along with her family, has recently opened up about a stalker-involved shooting that took place in July of 2020, where a stalker invaded Majury’s home with a loaded shotgun and was killed by her Father in means of self-defense.
The now 15-year-old TikTok star began amassing an overwhelming amount of fame in early 2020, when at the time she was the mere age of 13. Majury’s content mostly consists of POV, Lifestyle, and health videos, which has garnered her over one million followers and 57 million likes across social media.
With Majury’s content starting to become more and more popular the then 13-year-old’s fan base started to skyrocket. An 18-year-old male, who went by the username EricJustin11 on TikTok – real name Eric Rohan Justin, 18 – became alarmingly over-obsessed with Majury. In early 2020 Justin began sending ludicrous messages to the then 13-year-old on apps like Snapchat and Instagram, even bribing Majury’s hometown friends for her cellphone number. “I had to unfollow all my local friends and Jersey friends,” Majury told The New York Times. “everyone around me was like, ‘Oh you’re going Hollywood on all of us, you don’t want to talk to us anymore.’ And I’m like, ‘You’re selling my stuff.’”
Justin started to become more ill-minded with requests as he would frequently ask for “stuff that a 14-year-old shouldn’t be sending.” Majury started to realize that Justin was more than a fan and more of a stalker, and ceased contact with him for good. The stalker sent $500 to Majury with a message reading “sorry this is all I have left I’m broke” in a last-ditch attempt to get her to unlock him.
Justin was shortly after contacted by Rob Majury, a retired police officer, telling him to stop contacting his daughter as she was a minor.
On July 10th, 2020, Justin arrived at the Majury residence with a loaded shotgun and unloaded a round into the 14-year-olds bedroom door. Mr. Majury heard the shots from down the hall and quickly rushed to secure his family, dial 911, and retrieve his handgun. “All I remember was, I heard it, I felt it in my chest, and I looked up, and there was a hole in my door from the fragments,” Majury told The New York Times.
Mr.Majury ran to the front door of the house and waited for the authorities to show up, but they had yet to arrive before Justin was back. Justin reportedly took aim at Mr.Majury, but before he could pull the trigger it was too late as the ex-cop had shot and killed the teen.
When authorities searched Justin’s body they found two phones filled with hundreds of hours of footage and thousands of photos.
“We chose what’s best for our family,” Majury’s mom, Kim Majury, told NYT. “We know there are going to be two sides, and some people won’t understand.’’
