The Viral Taylor Swift Security Guard Lost His Job After Sharing Up Close Tour Photos

A stadium security guard applied to work security during “The Eras Tour” just to get an up close view of the tour amid surging ticket prices and the precarious landscape of Ticketmaster. During show time, he handed cards to concertgoers requesting that they take photos when Taylor Swift got near him onstage. After he shared the photos and they went viral on TikTok, he has since lost his job.

Calvin Denker worked with a private security firm for “The Eras Tour” in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Denker shared his experience with being hired and seeing the concert up close and personal, and included the photos of himself on the job from behind the barricade that audience members sent him. Concertgoers commended his joyful attitude at the show.

Denker shared a follow up video explaining that the HR department called him and wanted to fire him from his job over the viral video. The company told him after the fact that they maintain a policy that prevents employees from taking photos with any of the performers they work security for. Denker claims to have apologized and offered to take the photos and videos down.

The HR representative then told Denker that his fate would be decided in a few weeks when she returned from vacation. After this, the security guard was scheduled to work an Ed Sheeran concert. Given that he was never officially fired, he proceeded to his shift as assigned. The HR Representative allegedly then told Denker that he should not have come to work, despite being assigned to appear.

Following the Ed Sheeran concert, Denker was officially terminated.

Social Media Reactions

Many commenters were upset with the outcome of Denker’s job. The security guard was never on his own phone during the concerts he worked, and appeared to be attentive in the numerous videos captured by audience members. Additionally, he never left his assigned post, which many argued was the most important part of his job.

Fans had previously praised Denker’s attentive nature and enthusiasm on the job.

Denker’s former employer is yet to comment on the matter, and it remains unclear if the security guard intends to seek employment with a new security firm. Swift never commented on the viral phenomenon this summer, and is yet to comment on Denker’s firing from his position.
