The Mandalorian’s Chapter 14 Has Star Wars Fans In Their Feels

In the shortest yet action packed episode of The Mandalorian yet, chapter 14’s episode left fans in a whirlwind of emotions. If you haven’t seen chapter 14 yet, this is your spoiler warning that you might want to turn away from this article now. In the episode that leads up to the show’s final two episodes of the season, two characters thought to be dead were brought back to the series, warming fan’s hearts. But the happiness at seeing old friends was short lived due to the tragic ending of the episode. 

The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian series is a prequel story to the Star Wars films, following a lone Mandalorian bounty hunter, Din Djarin, in the outer reaches of the galaxy. He is hired to get the child Grogu (known to non-Star Wars fans as baby Yoda) to bring back to imperial forces. Instead he goes on a run trying to protect the child. Season two details the Mandalorian’s journey to return Grogu to its people, the Jedi. Din Djarin searches for other Mandalorians who could possibly help him find the Jedi. He is directed to a rumored Mandalorian operating out of town Tatooine and drama ensues.

Who Returned

Fans were most excited for the return of Boba Fett. After teasing a return of Boba Fett, the clone of Jango Fett (the human male bounty hunter who spawned an army of clone troopers during the final years of Galactic Republic), fans were ecstatic to confirm his return in chapter 14. Boba Fett returns with a determined mission to get his armor back, and even willing to kill both Din and Grogu for it. 

But he is not alone! Boba Fett is joined with Fennec Shand, the assassin last seen presumably dead on Tatooine after being shot in season one. Din Djarin had left Fennec’s body and it was eventually found by a mystery person at the end of the episode. Fans were left to speculate who that person could be and we learned that it was indeed Boba Fett who had saved Fennec. 

Of course, the return of these characters was not the only thing fans were emotional about. While we’ve given a lot away about the episode, we won’t give away the ending. But let’s just say it was dramatic to say the least. And it leaves us ready with anticipation for the final episodes. 

Reactions

Twitter was a blur with Star Wars fans reacting to the most recent episode of The Mandalorian. 

Fans were already expecting the worst just from reading the title of the episode, “The Tragedy.”

But at least having Temuera Morrison come back to play Boba Fett made up for some of the episode’s tragedy. Fans agree having the old actor back was perfect. 

The ending left fans an emotional wreck to say the least. Please give all the Star Wars fans in your life a few days while they cope with the grief of Grogu.

Aside from the heart wrenching plot points, another fun thing fans have been enjoying throughout the entire Mandalorian journey are the highly detailed special effects!

And these special effects are no joke! The Mandalorian producers are using the latest technology to create a “Volume” set, the greatest special effect of them all. The Volume consists of LED paneled walls that wrap around the stage, where there is also a physical set design. The producers opted to used LED walls instead of a green screen to project 3D environments in real time for the actors to act with. Additionally this the LED wall technology has allowed the work that is typically saved for post-production to be done in real time, creating a more seamless visual presentation that is said to be eight times more powerful than the special effects used in the original Star Wars series. 

Between the emotional madness that this show evokes, the fast action and intricate special effects, season two of The Mandalorian is not letting fans down, it just keeps getting better and better.

The Mandalorian’s chapter 14 was definitely an episode for the books! The producers managed to stuff as much as they could into the 30 minute episode, keeping fans captivated at every plot twist and tugging at our emotions with warm hellos and tragic goodbyes. All to leave fans geared up and already anticipating next week’s second to last episode of the series! Are you ready for the season’s penultimate episode?
