Everything You Missed At The 2021 VMA’s: A Full Breakdown

The 2021 VMA’s had tons of star-studded performances. With the number of amazing albums that have come out this year, we’d expect nothing less. To absolutely no one’s surprise, the VMA’s features some amazing performances, gorgeous looks, and jaw-dropping drama. Hosted by Doja Cat, the winners and nominees were in for an exciting night. Here’s a breakdown of everything you might have missed.

The Best Performances:

Normani getting super close to Teyana Taylor at the end of her 2000’s inspired set. After performing her new single “Wild Side,” she concluded her performance with an homage to Janet Jackson’s “Would You Mind.” She wore a silver two-piece set inspired by Aaliyah as she climbed on top of Teyana Taylor as she was tied up. Obviously, she left the audience utterly speechless.

Doja Cat entranced the crowd by performing mid-air during her set. As she completed “Been Like This,” Doja Cat descended to the stage to begin singing “You Right.” Wearing an all-red outfit, Doja was held up by wires as she whizzed around the stage. Just like “Planet Her,” her performance was interstellar.

Chloe Bailey, one-half of sister duo Chloe x Halle, made her solo debut at yesterday’s ceremony. With her performance of her premiere solo single “Have Mercy,” the audience collectively lost their minds. From the pink corset outfit, to the twerk circle and microphone lick, Bailey’s performance is one to never be forgotten.

Lil Nas X was joined by Jack Harlow on the VMAs stage for a wild performance of “Industry Baby,” the latest hit off Lil Nas X’s debut album Montero. Lil Nas X, just like his video, went all out with a full marching band, pink prison uniforms, and a whole lot of stripping.

The Best Fights:

Conor McGregor and Machine Gun Kelly’s seemed to get into a brawl on the VMA’s red carpet. Machine Gun Kelly arrived alongside his girlfriend Megan Fox

While McGregor was in attendance alongside his fiancé, Dee Devlin.

Videos from the red carpet before the event started show McGregor launching a drink in Kelly’s direction while being held back by security. It is unclear what provoked the altercation, although TMZ reported that it began after McGregor asked Kelly for a picture, which Kelly denied.

The Best Looks:

Speaking of the red carpet, the 2021 VMA’s had some amazing pre-show looks. Here are a few of our favorites:

Doja Cat served tons of looks hosting the VMA’s last night. From her worm outfit to wearing a chair on her head, I think it’s safe to say this outfit was her best look of the night. She pairs bejeweled blue gloves with her sheer black dress and silver chains around her waist.

Lil Nas X is the winner of Video of the Year, but he’s also the winner of the best-dressed artist on the red carpet. With this prince inspired purple dress he took home two awards in his Versace ensamble.

Tinashe is giving Flintstone vibes with this vintage look. The intricate detailing on the already tasseled look is giving exactly what it’s supposed to give.

Jack Harlow in his green suit… must I more?

Madison Beer might not have taken home any awards, but she did some to slay. With her pink tie-up dress, she steals the show.

Flo Milli always comes with good outfits, but tonight might be her best. The jeweled dress completely encapsulated her style and attitude in the best way.

Olivia Rodrigo might be “Sour” but last night she was serving a sweet look by Versace. Versace’s haute couture collection happen to dress the two biggest winners of the night: Lil Nas X and Olivia Rodrigo.

If this photo isn’t all over your social media, what are you doing? MGK and Megan Fox showed up in a devilish red suit and a sheer dress. Both of them definetly take the crown for the best-dressed couple on the red carpet.
