Technoblade, a Beloved Minecraft Creator, Passed Away From Cancer at 23

Technoblade, a popular and well-loved Minecraft YouTuber, passed away from stage four cancer yesterday. In a final video from Technoblade, his dad reads the last message he had for his fans in a heartbreakingly beautiful video. The video is trending online at number one as people share their condolences to his family and their neverending love for this YouTuber, whose content brought so many people joy. In the video, his dad reads Technoblade’s words as he expresses his love for being a creator, saying “If I had another hundred lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time, as those were the happiest years of my life.”

The video, with 27 million views already, was simple and touching, with his dad sitting with their white dog in a chair with a white background. His dad wears his son’s merch and explains how Technoblade wrote the note only 8 hours before he died. “I hope you guys enjoyed my content and that I made some of you laugh, and I hope you all go on to live long, prosperous and happy lives because I love you guys,” he said. Technoblade has an incredibly active community with over 11 million followers. Many dedicated pieces of art to him, often with the saying “Technoblade never dies” or “So long, nerds” which was the title of his final YouTube video.

Author John Green added his condolences, writing “So, so sad to hear about the death of Technoblade, a talented and hilarious 23-year-old YouTuber I often watched with my son. My thoughts are with Alex’s family and friends and fans.” Some people also noted that his fan base tended to be young, as Minecraft is a popular game among younger audiences. “My suggestion is that if you have younger siblings who are fans of Technoblade, you talk to them before they watch the video. talk them through cancer and remind them about how important it was that Technoblade reminded his fans that he loved them. help them process this,” one fan noted.

My 7 year old son absolutely loved him. I don't know how to tell him.

Technoblade worked hard to keep his identity a secret, and while his father revealed his first name and a photo of him, his last name was kept a secret for privacy reasons. His family asks for privacy as they mourn, with his mother concluding the video by saying “he was always strategizing ways to delight and reward his audience – giving away online prizes, encouraging good sportsmanship, and most of all sharing his Minecraft adventures for entertainment and laughs.”
