Taylor Swift Friends Unfollow Joe Alwyn On Social Media Shorty After Breakup
Several of singer-songwriter Taylor Swift’s high profile best friends have unfollowed alleged ex boyfriend Joe Alwyn on social media. Swift was spotted in New York City while in between tour stops visiting with the likes of Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, GiGi Hadid, and the HAIM sisters.
Swift was in a relationship with actor Joe Alwyn for six years. An anonymous source told Entertainment Tonight that the pair had split in recent weeks. Amid Swift’s ambitious cross-country “The Eras Tour”, rumors continue to swirl that Swift’s level of fame was too much for Alwyn to handle. Both Alwyn and Swift previously discussed the importance of privacy in their personal lives.
The Easter Eggs
While neither Swift nor Alwyn have commented directly on the breakup rumors, fans have long suspected that the singer is dropping easter eggs alluding to her new era of singledom. At her tour stops immediately after the news broke, Swift performed her “1989” track “Clean” and her “Lover” track “Death By A Thousand Cuts” as the night’s surprise songs.
Additionally, during the “Folklore” portion of the show, she swapped out the folksy strings of “Invisible String” for the reflective “The 1.” The latter tells the story of a love that just was not meant to be. All of these songs are about breaking up and moving on, leading concertgoers to suspect that their inclusion was purposeful. Also at a concert, Swift spotted a fan’s sign that read “you ok?” and nodded and gave them a thumbs up, seemingly indirectly confirming the breakup.
Now, fans are turning to the internet for further clues. Both actors Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively unfollowed Alywn on Instagram after the couple went out to dinner with Swift.
While it is fairly customary for friends to unfollow exes on social media, the internet was surprised that Ryan Reynolds allegedly got in on the gossip. Reynolds, a fellow actor, wrote about Alwyn for Time Magazine’s “100 Next” series in 2022.
Swift’s Squad
The plot thickened as a growing list of the former couples’ mutual friends continued to unfollow Alwyn on Instagram. Next were the HAIM sisters, who unfollowed them from their individual accounts and their official band’s account. The rock band was spotted alongside Swift for a girls night this week. The viral photo has Swifties thinking that the singer just might be “dressing for revenge” as per her “Midnights” track “Vigilante Sh*t”.

Fans are hoping that Swift will reprise her tradition of having her friends in her music videos, like she did on “Reputation” track “Bad Blood.”

Fans were initially shocked and disappointed at the news of Swift’s breakup with Alwyn. This stems from the love songs Swift penned about the actor. However, many are now offering words of kindness for the star, recognizing the challenges of navigating the situation.
Glad to see her taking time for herself and being with friends. She works so hard.

On TikTok, fans are making a connection to the cult favorite rom-com “13 Going On 30” starring Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo. The film’s tagline is “30, flirty, and thriving.” The film is also set in New York City, and features its main character prioritizing herself before finding the right relationship.
None of the above have commented directly on the breakup rumors, but the unfollows were heard around the world.
