Taylor Swift Surprises Fans With ‘Folklore’ Concert Film
Taylor Swift has officially announced a brand new concert film that will be able to be streamed exclusively on Disney+.
The concert film, which was recorded in honor of her latest album Folklore and also directed by Swift, is set for release after midnight on November 25th.

Unlike many other concert documentaries, such as Beyonce’s Homecoming, this film will be more lowkey. Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions was filmed with Taylor Swift and her band during the lockdown. The majority of the film takes place at Long Pond Studios, a remote location in upstate New York.
The film will include all 17 songs from Folklore as well as exclusive interviews with some of her collaborators from the album. Fans can look forward to seeing Jack Antonoff (Bleachers) and Bon Iver.

This was a surprise to fans, similar to how she released Folklore without much warning back in July.
This movie follows Swift’s “City of Lover” concert movie released in May and the “Miss Americana” documentary which premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January.
“Well it’s 11/24 and 24-11 = 13 so I’ve got an announcement,” Swift tweeted.
In the official trailer for the film, Swift says, “there’s something about the complete and total uncertainty of life. If we’re going to have to recalibrate everything, we should start with what we love the most first.”

Viewers can see Jack Antonoff, Aaron Dessler and Swift chatting with each other outside in the trailer.
“I’ve never worked on an album like this,” Antonoff says.
“I’m so glad that we did. Because it turned out everybody needed a good cry, as well as us,” Swift replied.

The “Cardigan” singer will perform stripped down versions of the full record during the film. This is the first time that Swift will perform all of the songs from Folklore publicly.
Viewers will get an exclusive look at how the album was recorded remotely earlier this year. There are apparently countless secrets revealed during the film about the album, its collaborators and more.

For instance, due to all of the recording studios being closed as a result of the pandemic, Swift built a makeshift studio in her home. She decided to name it Kitty Committee Studios and footage from Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions gives fans a chance to check out the setup.
Swifties will also learn that the singer decided to not tell her label about the release of Folklore until right before its official release.
folklore sessions movie is probably one of my favorite things ever

She opened up to Entertainment Weekly about the process of creating this particular album. “It was a very do-it-yourself experience, even down to my management team who created all of the art, everything. We created absolutely everything in advance, every lyric video, every individual album package, and then we called our label a week in advance and said, ‘Here’s what we have,’ and showed them PDF files of all the things we already had.”
In fact, this album involved the smallest group of people compared to all of her other releases.
So excited for the @taylorswift13 movie release on @disneyplus!! #Folklore is such an amazing album and this may be the only time we can hear these songs in a "live" setting so I'm pumped!!!!

“The only people who knew were the people I was making it with, my boyfriend, my family, and a small management team. That’s the smallest number of people I’ve ever had know about something,” Swift said.
Fans are beyond excited about all of this new content. Swifties have been gifted plenty of surprises from the singer this year and many are wondering if there could possibly be more to come.
And this particular album was very unique for Swift when it came to the songwriting process as well. Fans will learn more about how Folklore was actually more fictional than inspired by firsthand experiences.

“I was kind of outside of my own personal stuff. I think that’s been my favorite thing about this album is that it’s allowed to exist on its own merit without it just being, ‘Oh, people are listening to this because it tells them something that they could read in a tabloid,’” Swift explained.
Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions will be released and premiere on Disney+ on today at 3:01 a.m. EST/12:01 a.m. PST.
