Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas Agree to Temporarily Keep Their Kids in The United States
Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have reached a temporary agreement over their two kids amid the latest lawsuit.
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s children will be staying in the US, for now at least.
As many recall, the alleged ‘feud’ between Jonas, 27, and Turner, 34, has been taking over headlines across the nation. The couple recently filed for divorce after four years of marriage issuing the a September 6th statement reading:
“After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
However, just shortly after the statement, new reports came in stating that Sophie Turner had filed a lawsuit against the Jonas Brother member on September 1st alleging that he was preventing their kids from returning to England.
According to sources, the children are both U.S. and U.K. citizens. In documents obtained by What’s Trending, Sophie Claimed that ahead of the breakup, the two had planned to settle permanently with their kids in in England.
The divorce was filed in Florida where the couple shared a Miami estate. The two were allegedly in the process of purchasing a home before their marriage ‘very suddenly’ fractured.
In response to the lawsuit, which claimed jurisdiction under the International Child Abduction Remedies Act, a representative of Jonas told E! News, “The children were not abducted. After being in Joe’s care for the past three months at the agreement of both parties, the children are currently with their mother. Sophie is making this claim only to move the divorce proceedings to the UK and to remove the children from the U.S. permanently.”
The representatives also pushed back on the claims that Turner only learned about the divorce through the media, claiming that the couple had ‘multiple conversations’ before the DNCE singer imitated proceedings.
Joe’s team has also shared a plea deal on behalf of the of the singer claiming, “His wish is that Sophie reconsider her harsh legal position and move forward in a more constructive and private manner. His only concern is the well-being of his children.”
Jonas and Turned tied the knot in 2019 after nearly three years of dating. Rumors of cheating have swept the internet but there has been no confirmation to support the theories.
