Selena Gomez is Taking Part In A Mental Health Action Forum To Help In Empowering Youth

Selena Gomez and her Rare Beauty Rare Impact Fund are partnering with MTV Entertainment to host the first-ever Mental Health Youth Action Forum with the Biden-Harris Administration. On Wednesday, May 18th, Gomez will be speaking at the White House to try and abolish the stigma held around mental health. With the forum being presented as part of MTV Entertainment’s Mental Health is Health Initiative, Gomez will join 30 other mental health youth activists in hopes of empowering youth to fully embrace any and all conversations surrounding mental health. The event subsequently takes place the day before Mental Health Action Day, a day that follows many organizations, brands, government agencies, and cultural leaders shelling out support and collectively encouraging youth to find mental health support if in need.

“As an advocate for mental health, I am thrilled to join forces with MTV Entertainment alongside my social impact initiative, the Rare Impact Fund, with the goal of destigmatizing mental health through shaping positive conversations about self-acceptance and mental well-being,” said Gomez. She has had a long-standing passion for mental health advocacy and education, with her, in turn, creating Rare Beauty and the Rare Impact Fund. “It’s a personal mission of mine to continue this work in helping empower youth in the ongoing conversation of mental health.

“We are proud to partner with Selena Gomez, a global superstar, and leader in mental health advocacy, with whom we share a commitment to destigmatize and normalize the conversation around mental health, given its alarming rise among young people. In coordination with the Biden-Harris administration, we are excited that this event will give a national platform to a remarkable group of young people who are leading the charge to develop creative solutions to empower their peers to help themselves address mental health,” said Chris McCarthy, President, and CEO of Paramount Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios. Selena’s partnership and ongoing advocacy for the mental health advocacy world are so inspiring and it’s amazing to see.
