Ryan Seacrest Confirmed To Host “Wheel Of Fortune”

Longtime television host Ryan Seacrest was rumored to be stepping into the shoes of legendary “Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak. Today, Seacrest was confirmed to snag the spot. The host recently stepped down from co-hosting “Live With Kelly and Ryan” alongside Kelly Ripa, and currently still hosts “American Idol” and his own podcast. Seacrest’s ever growing resume has fans of the show shocked that he was able to make the time to host. Many were excited for the show to be revamped for younger audiences to enjoy.

Seacrest shared a message of gratitude for his new job, and how it was a unique full-circle moment for him. One of his first jobs was hosting a different game show, titled “Click.”

Today, Seacrest’s announcement is receiving mixed reviews. Many younger fans of “Wheel of Fortune” are excited for the show to land in new hands, while others would have preferred a different host. One Twitter user pointed out that Seacrest has replaced numerous famous 20th century hosts on a variety of programs, ranging from Dick Clark to Regis Philbin.

Ryan Seacrest has at this point replaced Regis Philbin, Casey Kasem, Dick Clark, and Pat Sajak – every remaining old 20th century holdover TV/radio personality must now reasonably assume that they, too, will eventually be replaced by this guy

Seacrest’s domination over both daytime and nightside television marks a new era for many networks’ most popular programming. Some Twitter users continue to express their desire for more diversity among television hosts, as Seacrest has hosted some of the biggest names on the small screen.

Others felt that longtime “Wheel of Fortune” co-host Vanna White should have been promoted to Pat Sajak’s spot. White has co-hosted the program since 1982.

White will reportedly remain a co-host on the program. Seacrest confirmed that the transition has begun, but an air-date for Seacrest’s “Wheel of Fortune” debut is to be announced.
