Roseanne Blames Ambien For Her Awful Tweet, Ambien Fires Back

My new favorite celebrity feud of all time has to be the unending, ceaseless conflict between Roseanne Barr and Ambien. Sorry, Pusha T and Drake, that track may have been the equivalent of the specter of death in an Ingmar Bergman film gazing into your soul, but a big racist sitcom star is fighting with a pill company, and I think that’s really funny.

The Roseanne/Ambien feud began when Roseanne finally had a response to the tweet that got her show canceled, blaming Ambien for her comparing Valerie Jarrett to the movie Planet of the Apes. Roseanne’s response said, in a now deleted tweet [all typos sic]:

“Guys I did something unforgiveable so do not defend me. It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far & do not want it defended-it was egregious Indefensible. I made a mistake I wish I hadn’t but…don’t defend it please. ty.”

Although Roseanne blames Ambien for her tweet and calls it indefensible, it seems like she’s only saying that because the tweet ended up getting her in trouble… considering she seems to stand behind all the tweets she’s posted before, and all the retweets and tweets she’s posted since, that are either racist, pushing conspiracy theories or painting her as some kind of martyr rather than a bigoted woman who compared a black woman to an ape and got punished accordingly.

Ambien, understandably, did not want to be taken into that narrative. The sleeping drug giant tweeted out:

People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world. While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication.

— Sanofi US (@SanofiUS) May 30, 2018

Well, pharmaceutical companies are kind of weird, and Roseanne is racist, but it’s fun to see a feud this dumb.

Here is what the good people of the Internet had to say about Roseanne’s terrible drug related excuse and the entire Roseanne matter including… a certain big, awful president.

Can whoever is prescribing Ambien to Roseanne, Alex Jones, Richard Spencer, David Duke, Ted Nugent, Sean Hannity, and Donald Trump, please cut them off.

Ambien does not make you racist.

Just like drinking didn’t make Mel Gibson anti-Semitic.

And how intense video game sessions don’t make you say racial epithets.

The shit is already in your brain.

Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that “ABC does not tolerate comments like those” made by Roseanne Barr. Gee, he never called President Donald J. Trump to apologize for the HORRIBLE statements made and said about me on ABC. Maybe I just didn’t get the call?

That Trump Tweet is weird. “Where’s my apology?” is a weird thing to say amongst all the horror going on. But, what do you think of all this? Is Ambien an acceptable excuse for being a huge dummy? Let us know in the comments, or on Twitter at @WhatsTrending.
