Prince Harry ‘His Royal Highness’ Title Removed from Family Website

Prince Harry’s and Meghan Markle’s titles on the royal family website have been removed, and it’s drawing a lot of conversation.

U.K. publication Express noted on August 4th that the Duke of Sussex was still referred to as “His Royal Highness” in two different areas on his page, the website was updated to exclude the title.

The mentions have been replaced with his Sussex title, one given to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry after the late queen passed in 2018.

This update comes after the two walked away roughly three years after the couple announced they would take a backseat as senior members of the royal family and relocate to North America.

At the time, Buckingham Palace announced the couple would not be using their “HRH titles” moving forward “as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family.”

Harry’s title change was not apparently the only update needed according site as well. As Express reported, Queen Elizabeth II, who passed in September, was still referred to as the current monarch.

Additionally, Express reported that King Charles and Queen Camilla, who coronation took place earlier in the year, were also referred to as older titles: Prince Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.

In a statement, the Buckingham Palace explained the maintenance of the royal family remained a work in progress.

“The Royal Family website contains over five thousand pages of information about the life and work of the Royal Family,” the Aug. 4 statement to Express read. “Following the death of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, content has been revisited and updated periodically. Some content may be out of date until this process is complete.”
