Peloton Responds to “And Just Like That” Episode in a Parody Commercial

“And Just Like That…” is a Sex and the City reboot that premiered on Thursday, revealing that Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, is now a widow at the end of the episode. Apparently, Carrie’s husband, Mr. Big, dies of a heart attack related to his Peloton riding. In the show, he gets off the bike after a 45 minute ride, and dies from a heart attack. Peloton, a popular bike exercise equipment known for its equally as popular bike riding videos, now released a parody commercial in response.

According to CNBC: “the stock is down about 75% year-to-date, and it hit a 52-week low of $37.67 on Friday.” In a hilarious parody, Mr. Big, played by Chris Noth and the Peloton instructor who was depicted in the show, Jess King, sit down, where Noth says he “feels great” and asks if they should take another ride, which King asks Mr. Big in the show over the screen after his heart attack.

Ryan Reynolds, who is the voice-over in the commercial, says “And just like that, the world was reminded that regular cycling stimulates and improves your heart, lungs, and circulation. … Cycling strengthens your heart muscles, lowers resting pulse, and reduces blood fat levels. He’s alive.” Though Peloton was incredibly popular in the beginning of the pandemic when many people were stuck in their houses and gyms were closed, they had to recall a treadmill after there was a report of one death and several injuries. Peloton also suffered due to competition from other companies and people returning back to their homes.

I'm starting to think Ryan Reynolds might have missed his calling as a advertisement executive. I mean if this acting thing doesn't work out he might have a future…

However, many people thought that the commercial was funny, and a good response to the lowering of stock from Peleton. Plus, who doesn’t like Ryan Reynolds?
