Tulsa Pastor Mike Todd Trends on Twitter After Rubbing Spit on Congregation Member’s Face and Eyes
Today on Twitter, many woke up to see an interesting video circulating Twitter: a Pastor from Tulsa who spat in his hand and then rubbed it onto a churchgoer’s eyes, face, and mouth. This Pastor is Michael Todd, who later apologized and claimed he was trying to explain the story he was teaching by doing something literal. However, many were still upset with this video, as it was gross, and even more dangerous to do than usual as it occurred in a pandemic, as omicron cases are still surging.
Had never heard of “Pastor” Mike Todd before today. But I truly understand now why the elders used to frequently tell us that we’re in the last days.

In the video, Todd seems to play up the grossness of the video, by hacking and coughing before he spits into his hand. When the crowd complains, he says that the responses of the people are “how people in your life will react when God is doing what it takes.” Still, many were not thrilled and felt as if the pastor seemed to only care about going viral, not preaching a message.
This is the living out of the "look at me" preacher that Jesus warned us to avoid.
It's a performance and has nothing to do with faith or Christianity.

This is not the first time Todd has done this, as he pressed mud to the same person’s face in a message about things getting too messy. Many wonders why some in the congregation would continue to go. However, since it was the same man being used in both videos, it might be something already agreed on.

Either way, the spitting seemed to be too much for people, even Pastor Todd. Today, he posted on Instagram about his video and apologizes, saying that he went too far. He notes that it was a distraction from what he was trying to do, which was to portray the message in the Bible, but he ended up going too far, which he realizes. He reiterates that he wants to really help people, which is why he does extreme things to hopefully help someone understand, but realizes he crossed the line.
It’s never my intention to distract others from God’s Word and the message of Jesus… even with illustrations!
I apologize for my example being too extreme and disgusting!

However, some other interesting things came to light as this began to take motion onto Twitter. He says though he does not condone hitting your spouse, he says that God says this is no reason to be able to get a divorce. He follows this by saying that people will be mad if “they do not read the Bible.” Though many made jokes about the spitting in the first video, there was no room for jokes in the second, as it angered people instead of grossing them out.
Come get this man up outta my community. https://t.co/8CMBlSNrgu

Overall, it seems like Mike Todd is a problematic figure to some, and even the reason why some choose to not attend church anymore, as they do not agree with what was displayed above. However, it should be noted that there were also Christians who did not side with Todd, and one person cannot accurately portray an entire group of people.
