Olivia Rodrigo Announces ‘Guts’ Track Listing Ahead Of September Release

The Grammy winning game changer Olivia Rodrigo will soon return with more new music. The Disney+ star turned pop punk songstress dropped her first single, “Vampire,” after a nearly two year hiatus following her debut album “SOUR.” The track was accompanied by a 2010s “Twilight” infused Petra F. Collins directed music video, and references an ex boyfriend who Rodrigo felt used by.

After hearing the singer’s matured vocals and scathing lyrics, fans look forward to the upcoming release of her sophomore album, “Guts.” Today, Rodrigo shared a creative video of herself typing up the track list on a typewriter.

The song titles include “All American B*tch”, “Bad Idea Right?”, “Vampire,” “Lacy,” “Ballad Of A Homeschooled Girl,” “Making The Bed,” “Logical,” “Get Him Back,” “Love Is Embarrassing,” The Grudge”, “Pretty Isn’t Pretty,” and “Teenage Dream.”

Fan Reactions

Fans of Rodrigo look forward to the singer’s much anticipated return to music. Some sense that “Guts” will offer new insight into the lyrics behind “SOUR” and the pop culture phenomenon that came with it. Amid Rodrigo’s debut single release, “Driver’s License”, theories swirled that the track referenced the singer’s past relationship with actor Joshua Bassett on the set of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.”

The actor allegedly quickly moved on with fellow singer-actress Sabrina Carpenter. Both Rodrigo and Carpenter have referenced the public reaction to the alleged love triangle in their music, with Carpenter’s track being “because i liked a boy.”

no! it is probably a reference of her own lyrics of "brutal": "Where's my fucking teenage dream?"

Theories

Some feel that the titles of the tracks are too thematically similar to Rodrigo’s debut album, “SOUR.” Others raise the point of keeping an eye on the details of the visuals being posted to the singer’s social media accounts. A shelf of books offered some interesting titles that insinuated a new level of awareness and departure from the singer’s teen angst. Rodrigo’s debut album notably interpolated Paramore’s “Misery Business.”

Some are referencing a recent clip of Rodrigo’s Vogue “75 Questions” interview, in which she claims that like much of Gen Z, she is addicted to saying “slay.” Fans already sense that  in the words of the singer,”Guts” will indeed slay.

Others took note of a minor detail in the typewriter video, and suspect that the singer might be dropping two singles later this month ahead of the full “Guts” release.
