‘Oh Bother’: New Trailer Releases of the Winnie the Pooh Slasher Film
Deep in the hundred-acre wood where Christopher Robin plays, You will find in the enchanted neighborhood, Christopher Robin being slain. The trailer of the slasher-horror film version of our favorite little bear, Winnie the Pooh, is here! And it is deeply unsettling.
Earlier this year, A.A. Milne’s 1926 book “Winnie-the-Pooh” was made public domain. Now the characters Pooh bear, Christopher Robin, Piglet, Rabbit, Owl, Eeyore, Kanga, and little Roo are free for artistic use.
Disney does still own post-1926 Winnie the Pooh likeness, so no iconic red t-shirt and no Tigger(he made his first appearance in the 1928 novel “The House at Pooh Corner”). But now artists can make films, plays, and music about Pooh and his furry friends. So naturally, writer-director Rhys Frake-Waterfield decides that Pooh and Piglet must go on a murderous rampage in the hundred-acre wood.

“Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey” follows Pooh and Piglet enacting bloodthirsty revenge after being abandoned by Christopher Robin when he leaves for college. The trailer shows Pooh wearing a red flannel and wielding a sledgehammer. Piglet and Pooh are seen chloroforming a woman in a hot tub.
Truly unhinged behaviour. Are they humans dressed as animals or just huge animals? Who killed Eeyore? Are they eating people? What vengeance are they seeking? Who thought this was a good idea?! https://t.co/YGlfQl4gdv

In an interview with Variety back in May, Waterfield said “No one is going to mistake this [for Disney]. When you see the cover for this and you see the trailers and the stills and all that, there’s no way anyone is going to think this is a child’s version of it.”
And the internet certainly did not mistake it for a fluffy film about their childhood icon. Tweets like “They had $5 and a nightmare” and “This looks completely unhinged. When can I buy tickets?!” popped up after the trailer was released. Amongst the confusion and genuine terror, some are intrigued by this horror turn for Winnie the Pooh. It’s camp! I guess?

The film is produced by Jagged Edge Productions and will be distributed by ITN Studios. Jagged Edge Productions have made horror spins on other classic children’s favorites like Humpty Dumpty (“The Curse of Humpty Dumpty”), the Easter Bunny (“Easter Bunny Massacre”), and Jack and Jill (“The Legend of Jack and Jill”). So this type of film is quite literally their bread and butter(or blood and honey—I should say).
“Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey” has no announced release date as of this writing.
