New Taylor Swift ‘Eras Tour’ Documentary May See A Potential Release in Theaters

Taylor Swift’s highly successful “Era’s Tour” is set to have a documentary in the future. After fans saw a multitude of cameras at the Los Angeles show, new insider information has come in that there may be allegedly be a theater release for the movie.

According to an anonymous insider who spoke with What’s Trending, the source stated “Bids are currently in place for who will be buying the rights to the documentary. There have been a few bites but it’s not too certain who will be streaming it.”

The insider went on to say that this documentary will also be similar to Miss Americana which debuted on Netflix back in 2020.

However, there may be different avenue taken for this project. The insider also went on to say that there is an interest for something bigger than the streaming platforms.

The source stated, “They are looking at something theatrical as well. There is just some concern that there may not be an appetite for that sort of release.”

Inglewood, CA - August 02: Lili Sunga, 18 waited in linear 5 hours to purchase Taylor Swift merchandise at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. Sunga spent $484 for tees and sweatshirts that she will wear to the concert, her second Swift concert. The Eras Tour at SoFi officially begins Thursday, with additional performances set for Friday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Some of the merchandise is venue only and therefore sales were limited, 2 per person and even then items were selling out quickly.

The news of a theater release comes after Swift teased a potential announcement coming on August 9th. Some believe that the singer will be releasing either the Reputation or 1989 re-records of her popular albums, while others think that it could be this potential documentary.

Swift was recently linked to Succession’s writer for the popular series Alice Birch.

After directing her own music videos for the songs “The Man”, “Cardigan” and many more, the singer had announced her plans to direct her first feature length film with an original script that she wrote. This comes just after her first short film, “All Too Well” managed to generate Oscar buzz.

INGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA - AUGUST 03: EDITORIAL USE ONLY. Taylor Swift performs onstage during "Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour" at SoFi Stadium on August 03, 2023 in Inglewood, California.

Swift and the Succession writer allegedly want to make a “meta-feminist” show sometime in the future.

The reason Swift allegedly wished to work with Birch is due to her time crafting the character of Shiv Roy, the only daughter in the show’s central family.

An insider explained to the Sun, “Alice is an ideal writing partner as she helped shape Succession character Shiv Roy. seeing how she moulded this character, who existed in a male-dominated environment, caught Taylor’s eye.”

The project will potentially be produced by Searchlight Pictures, the studio known for big hits like Nomadland and The Shape of Water.

So far the details including the cast and pilot are limited, as Swift is known for keeping projects very secretive. But Searchlight presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield have spoken out publicly saying she is a “once in a generation artist and storyteller.”
