Lori Loughlin Speaks In First TV Appearance Since College Admissions Scandal

Lori Loughlin appeared on television, this time in an interview, for the first time since her college admissions scandal. Loughlin spoke about helping communities in need with Project Angel Food during their Lead With Love 3 broadcast that premiered this Saturday. Loughlin spoke among other volunteers about volunteering, but many were interested in Loughlin’s interview and how it relates to her scandal in 2019 when she was exposed for paying thousands of dollars to bribe her children’s way into competitive schools.

“They have welcomed me with such open arms at a time when I was feeling particularly down and broken,” she says, most likely referring to the scandal. “That’s how I found a home here, and that’s what I feel like they did for me, and that’s why I’m so proud to be here and working with this organization because they really do care. It’s really a community.” She discusses the organization as well and how they go beyond just feeding people, noting “It’s about loving people and helping people. And I think that is so important, and I am so proud to be a part of Project Angel Food.”

Although Loughlin did not express more details on the scandal and only briefly referred to it as a time when she felt “particularly down and broken,” not many people felt sympathetic for her. “Then put your money where your mouth is. Start a charity to help deserving students go to college. I promise you’ll feel better… but you don’t want to. Prove me wrong,” one person said in a response to the comments.

Loughlin pleaded guilty in 2o20 to conspiracy to commit fraud and spent two months in jail. Mossimo Giannulli, her husband who also pleaded guilty, spent five months in prison and is now finishing his community service.
