Does Lindsay Lohan’s New Movie Call Out Mean Girls?
One of America’s favorite child stars is making a return to the big screen. Lindsay Lohan, most well known for her roles in Parent Trap & Mean Girls, just signed a three movie deal with Netflix, according to Time Out. On November 10th, we got to see the first of the three, Falling for Christmas.

Falling for Christmas stars Lohan as the spoiled daughter of a hotel executive. After a gnarly skiing accident, Lohan’s character suffers from amnesia. In classic rom-com fashion, the heroine finds herself a handsome blue-collar man to help her heal, both physically and emotionally.
This will be Lohan’s first major film after multiple flops and hiccups in her career. As many know, Lohan struggled with addiction, and she was in and out of rehab for many years.
Many fans are elated to see the former child star healthy & returning to the screen. Including the company Netflix itself! In this tweet promoting the film, they wrote, “The Lohanaissance is here!” Obviously a play on the word, “renaissance,” and implying the star is about to make a major comeback.

But the most recent buzz online involves Falling for Christmas implementing a subtle callback to Mean Girls. Few can forget the iconic “Jingle Bell Rock” performance Cady, Regina George, Karen, & Gretchen gave at the talent show. It looks like we’ll be getting a blast from the past as Lohan will perform the song yet again in Falling for Christmas.
It turns out Lohan was actually nervous about filming this scene. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lindsay commented, “I was [nervous] because I haven’t recorded in a long time and felt the pressure of doing it in a way that people who had seen Mean Girls would like it the same.”

But fans flocked to reassure the star on Twitter, like this user who simply wrote, “Me enjoying Lindsay Lohan’s performance of Jingle Bell Rock in 2004 and 2022.” This fan’s sentiment rings true, as everyone seems happy just to see Lindsay back on her feet after so long.
