Kim Kardashian Meets With Donald Trump Over Prison Reform

by Amy Walters

Over the weekend, Kim Kardashian took to Twitter to voice her opinion on the case of Alice Marie Johnson, a 62-year-old great-grandmother who was arrested in 1993 due to drug charges. Though it was Johnson’s first offense, she was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Johnson had appealed to former President Barack Obama three times, but her plea was rejected. This is when Kim Kardashian became involved. She is one of the most followed people on Twitter with 60 million followers to her name, and is definitely someone who’s voice is always heard. Kardashian began a petition for the release of Alice Marie Johnson, which has since gained 260,000 signatures.

However, there was one last stop Kim needed to make before her job was done — the President. She met with President Donald Trump on May 30th to talk about prison reform, which has since resulted in Johnson’s sentence being in the process of being lifted. Shows what fame can achieve.

It was also Johnson’s birthday yesterday, and the news that she has long been waiting to hear came from Kim Kardashian herself in one of the best birthday presents:

Alice Marie Johnson was not the only person Kim Kardashian was there for. She tweeted on May 28th about another victim of unfair prison sentencing.

This man is sentenced to 35 yrs for selling drugs. He serves over 21 yrs, is released, finds a job, new relationship, starts a new life, & now is being sent back for another 10 yrs because the original release was an error. This man has completely rehabilitated himself. So sad https://t.co/msLsMSHGxh

Although it is not every day that you see a celebrity like Kim Kardashian become an advocate for subjects like this, it has been widely supported and admired by many.

So confused why people are attacking Kim Kardashian.

If you have the power to make any kind of change and the opportunity arises, you do it. She doesn't have to like Trump but she has the right to use him for a great agenda. Stop being noisy.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be Twitter unless there was a bit of comedy involved.
