Khloe Kardashian Speaks Out About Leaked Bikini Pic And The Pressure To Meet Body Standards

“The photo that was posted this week is beautiful,” the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star  wrote. “But as someone who has struggled with body image her whole life, when someone takes a photo of you that isn’t flattering in bad lighting or doesn’t capture your body the way it is after working so hard to get it to this point – and then shares it to the world – you should have the right to ask for it not to be shared.”

After the photo was posted, several social media accounts received messages of potential legal action to be taken against them if they didn’t remove the photo.

Mixed reactions came across social media about the length that the Kardashian team was taking to hide the photo. Many people didn’t understand why a natural photo was such a big issue for the reality star.

Khloe goes on in her statement to express the struggles she has always faced with body image and beauty standards.

“In truth, the pressure, constant ridicule, and judgement my entire life to be perfect and to meet other’s standards of how I should look has been too much to bear.” She goes on to say that she has always been labeled “the fat sister,” and “the ugly sister,” of the Kardashian clan.

Khloe admitted that she does love “a good filter, good lighting and an edit here and there. The same way I throw on some make-up, get my nails done, or wear a pair of heels to present myself to the world the way I want to be seen and it’s exactly what I will continue to do unapologetically.”

She also wants to make it clear that she is not looking for sympathy but is “asking to be acknowledged for being human.”

Khloe ended her statement with a message to the people who also feel the pressure of beauty standards.

“For those else who feel constant pressure of not ever feeling perfect enough, I want you to know I see you and I understand,” she said. “Just do you and make sure your heart is happy.”
