Kevin Federline Sued After Owing More Than $15,000 to Kids’ Private School Amidst Attempted Move To Hawaii
A private Christian school in California is suing Kevin Federline for owing more than $15,000 in tuition for two of his children. This all comes as the former husband of Britney Spears said he would move to Hawaii with their children.
According to TMZ, Kevin Federline is giving Britney Spears’ lawyer a deadline to sign off on his planned move to Hawaii with their two children or he’ll go to court to get a judge to essentially give him the green light.
Kevin’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told TMZ that he has asked Britney’s lawyer several times to send a letter with the pop-star’s approval stating that the singer would be okay with a potential move to Hawaii. However, Britney and her representative, Mathew Rosengart, have sent nothing.
According to reports, Kaplan says Kevin Federline is looking to move on August 1st of this year and has no choice in his situation. His wife, Victoria Prince, has landed a job in the sports department of a local university, and the family must make the move at some point this year.
Kevin’s lawyer noted that there should be no issues in this situation with the kids, and noted that Kevin actually has 100% legal custody.
Federline’s representative noted that Britney Spears has not seen the kids in more than a year. If Britney’s lawyers do not respond by Friday, Kaplan stated he will file legal documents asking for a move-away order.
TMZ also went on to say that Britney has no objection to Kevin making the move, but it can’t be done without a formal waiver from her or even a court order.
Just recently, the private Christian school for the boys filed a civil lawsuit against the former backup dancer and wife Victoria Prince. The school claimed that the couple have an outstanding balance of $15,593 for their daughters Jordan and Peyton’s education.
The school, which is not being named due to privacy reasons, alleges that the couple breached a contract they signed in 2018 by “failing to pay for services which has been provided on credit at their special instance and request.”
The educational facility also stated that it previously demanded the money, but Federline and Prince allegedly “failed and revised and continue to fail and refuse to pay all or any part of the remaining balance due.”
In addition to the outstanding balance, the school is asking for 10% interest starting from May 16th, 2019 plus attorney fees. The couple has not made any comments about the issue at this time.
Federline is a father of six and shares other children with ex-fiancée Shar Jackson. The DJ was hit with the lawsuit exactly one week before announcing his plans to move to Hawaii, but has not specified if all six children will be coming with him as well.
Britney Spears has become “estranged” from her kids following the termination of her 13-year conservatorship that ended in November 2021, but others argue otherwise.
The “Toxic” singer’s son Jayden expressed concern for his newly freed mother’s mental health in a TV interview claiming she seemed “hateful.” However, in a recent TMZ special, “there have been occasional texts” exchanged between Spears and her sons as of late.
