Kathy Griffin Uses Dead Mom’s Twitter Account to Troll Elon Musk
Kathy Griffin tweeting from her deceased mom’s account is something that we didn’t expect.
Elon Musk has been continuing to make headlines with his changes on Twitter and it seems like everyone is not sure what will happen next. But for now, the topic of discussion is none other than Kathy Griffin.
Griffin is the first ever celebrity to lose her tweeting privileges on the platform under Elon Musk’s ownership. What did she do to lose that authority though? Well, she alongside many others on the internet actually impersonated Musk with the goal of sharing the flaws with Twitter’s revised verification system.
Originally Elon Musk stated it would be $20 for anyone to become verified on the public platform. But after public backlash, that number was changed to eight dollars a month with a swarm of memes from the internet that followed. The new plan was set to roll out immediately under the company but it was actually pushed back until after the 2022 midterm elections.
Comedian Sarah Silverman used her verified status to troll Musk by copying his picture, name, and even cover image, but she kept her own handle. She even posted “I am a freedom of speech absolutist and I eat doody for breakfast every day.” Silverman’s account was temporarily restricted, warning that there had been some unusual activity from the account.

In regards to Kathy Griffin, she pretended to pose as Musk stating “After much spirited discussion with the females in my life, I’ve decided that voting blue for their choice is only right. (They’re also sexy females, btw.) #VoteBlueToProtectWomen!”
I love how people are justifying that @KathyGriffin was making comedy on @Twitter when she tweeted to #VoteBlue in the likeness of @ElonMusk. Ladies and gentlemen, that’s not comedy. That’s manipulation. pic.twitter.com/ZulgEUBSpW

Even Television actress Valerie Bertinelli changed her account name to the Twitter CEOs and then shortly changed it back
Okey-dokey I’ve had my fun and I think I made my point. I’m just not a ‘trending’ kind of gal. Never have been, never want to be.
Have a safe Sunday everyone! xo

At this point, Musk Tweeted out “Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended.” He also tweeted that a name change on Twitter will “cause temporary loss of verified checkmark.”

This uproar went so far that even Ethan Klein from H3H3 productions joined in and impersonated Musk as well and he was also suspended.

Previously, we issued a warning before suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning.
This will be clearly identified as a condition for signing up to Twitter Blue.

This will be clearly identified as a condition for signing up to Twitter Blue,” he tweeted.
He even went as far as mocking Kathy Griffin saying “she was impersonating a comedian” and that she could get her account back by paying $8 a month for Twitter Blue. But we weren’t so sure about that.
But if she really wants her account back, she can have it

In other recents months of this Twitter acquisition, Musk has shared conspiracy theories about the attack on Paul Pelosi, called Democrats the party of “division & hate,” compared Twitter’s former CEO to Joseph Stalin and warned that “the woke mind virus will destroy civilization.”
In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party.
But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican.
Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold …

But in the end, Kathy Griffin did not go down without a fight. The comedian ended up using the Twitter account of her late mother, Maggie Griffin, who died in 2020, to troll Musk even more. She trolled Musk stating that she came back from the dead and needed to #FreeKathy.

No other celebrities have spoken out at this time against Musk on Twitter using his handle.
