Jordan Peterson’s Twitter is Suspended Due to Hateful Tweet About Elliot Page
Jordan Peterson, a psychology professor at the University of Toronto, is known for his non-fiction books like 12 Rules For Life became a celebrity within the right-winged political movement and was even signed to Daily Wire recently. Many of his political views are anti-transgender individuals and were expressed in 2016 when Canada was considering a bill to protect trans people and discrimination. He is also vehemently against Marxism and often discusses his dislike for feminism. Now, he lost access to his Twitter account this week due to an anti-trans remark about Elliot Page, who came out and transitioned a few years ago.
Forbes is reporting that @jordanbpeterson has signed a deal with the Daily Wire.
The Daily Wire now has 890,000 paid monthly subscribers.
Assuming $12 a month, that’s $10.6 million a month in subscriber revenue.

Peterson tweeted “remember when pride was a sin?” and made a comment that Elliot had his “breasts removed by a criminal physician” using both incorrect pronouns and Elliot’s previous name. He was suspended from Twitter as he did not want to delete the Tweet, and even says he considers this a permanent ban, and not a temporary suspension as he would “rather die” than delete it. To National Post, he says the suspension was because he “penned an irritated tweet in response to one of the latest happenings on the increasingly heated culture-war front.” Conservative commentator Steven Crowder wrote “When will Twitter realize that censoring speech only demonstrates how scared they are of it? Silencing Jordan Peterson only proves that what he’s saying is correct because they can’t stand to face it,” on Twitter in response.

His daughter, Mikhaila Peterson, wrote “No more twitter until he deletes the tweet. Definitely not a free speech platform at the moment” and tagged Elon Musk, who acquired the app in April. But, Musk has not been active on the app as of late and the transaction has not yet been completed, meaning he does not control anything on the app yet. Many pointed out that Peterson broke terms of service, as it was considered “hateful conduct” to transgender people. “They are always applied post hoc by algorithms and idiots bent on maintaining their woke superiority,” Peterson said in response.
Wow. @jordanbpeterson got a twitter strike. No more twitter until he deletes the tweet. Definitely not a free speech platform at the moment @elonmusk pic.twitter.com/YuBTwnjz5W

Although Peterson can browse Twitter and message people on the app, he cannot retweet or like tweets on the app or follow anybody. “If I can’t be let back on because I won’t apologize, I could care less,” Peterson stated, calling the app a “horrible, toxic platform.”
