James Charles Dropped By Morphe And Demonetized On YouTube After Sexual Misconduct And Grooming Allegations
Beauty influencer James Charles has recently been under fire for controversy surrounding several accusations of sexual misconduct with minors. Following the accusations, Charles has been dropped by many of his affiliated businesses.
After more than 15 minors have accused Charles of grooming and sexting, YouTube has officially announced their decision to temporarily demonetize the influencer’s channel, where he has more than 25 million subcribers. The company confirmed that Charles has violated the “creator responsibility policy” and in return he has been removed from the YouTube Partner Program. Charles will no longer be able to make money off his posted videos as of now.
YouTube also uploaded a new video featuring Creator Liaison Matt Koval explaining the policy and actions the company can take when it is violated.
Following the news, makeup brand Morphe announced in a statement posted to Twitter that they will be ending their business relationship with Charles as well.

“In light of the recent allegations against James Charles, Morphe and James have agreed to end our business relationship and wind down sales of the Morphe x James Charles product offering,” the company stated. This came as a surprise to some after the collaboration with the YouTuber became the companies best selling eyeshadow palette.

Charles released a statement regarding the separation of himself and the makeup brand on Twitter.
“I’ve loved every moment working together, and am beyond grateful for what we’ve created together. That being said, I reached out to them and we mutually agreed to wind down our James Charles x Morphe collaboration, which is my only project with them,” Charles said.
Mixed reactions poured in, responding to the fact that it was a “mutual” decision to end the partnership.
This is ridiculous. You both agreed? What the heck seriously? . He should've been dropped and not a mutual agreement you guys are a joke .

Oh, so y'all "mutually agreed" huh? How kind of you to give him the option to have a choice in the matter. And "winding down"..? Elaborate on that cause I feel like I'm looking at the bare minimum of consequences right now

As of right now, Charles has not responded to YouTube demonetizing his channel. He has also been dropped from Season 2 of the YouTube show he previously partnered with and hosted, Instant Influencer.
