Meta Wastes No Time Pulling Out All the Stops for Instabeach Party at Nobu
On August 19th, Instagram hosted its 500+ creator event at none other than Nobu Malibu in Los Angeles. The over the top marquee summer event had not been present for quite some time due to COVID-19, but it seems Meta has been working hard to catch the attention of the creator community.
The packed and highly in demand event was complete with a full Sushi bar (yes it looked very expensive) and even musical performances by Leah Kate, DJ Domo and Amorphous. This comes just shortly after Instagram held an event in Anaheim, CA with musical guest Latto offsite of popular event Vidcon. It seems Meta is pulling out all the stops to keep its community engaged and interested while wasting no time thinking about costs to produce these activations.
In an effort to get more talent involved with reels, the activation had many moments that were still “instagrammable” including a giant Instagram logo on site and even a small beach set up for guests to enjoy the sun and boast to all of their friends online.
This year, Instabeach hosted Creators including Bella Poarch, Nikita Dragun, Jack Johnson, Jack Gilinsky and more who topped out the pack of A-list talent attending the festivities. Throughout the day, guests could find a large amount of both new and fresh faces in the crowd amongst some of the staple content creators who have been online for nearly a decade.
Seeing that a majority of the fresh talent on the scene have not been able to attend events due to COVID-19, a large amount of the guests had the first chance to really meet other creators and even pave their own way in the digital industry.
This all comes after Instagram slowly rolled back its efforts on video on the platform. The media giant claims to still focus on photos but has been emphasizing important reels updates to keep up and stand out in the market.
According to Instagram, the platform has seen success in the market saying, “Strong Reels growth is continuing to drive engagement across Facebook and Instagram – we’ve seen a more than 30% increase in the time people spent engaging with Reels across both Facebook and Instagram.”
New Reels features were also announced for Facebook and Instagram – as part of Meta’s ongoing investment in helping make Reels the best place for creators to grow their creativity, audience, and career.
One new feature to call out is the Add Yours sticker, coming to Reels on both Facebook and Instagram. First made popular by Stories, the Add Yours sticker helps you join or start a trend.
Many are eager to see what we can expect next with Instagram and what other activations they will be planning for its creators.
