Here’s Why IHOP Changing to IHOb (For Burgers) Is Actually Really Smart

On June 4, IHOP made an announcement in a cryptic tweet that they were changing their name from IHOP to IHOb, which really rolls off the tongue. Many people were like, “okay, where’s this going? What does the B stand for?” People online made some good guesses with bacon, breakfast, or maybe brunch, but they were all wrong.

IHOP made the big announcement on June 11 and here it is!

Dear Internet, we abbreciate your batience. Now let’s see who guessed right. B-hold!!!!! #IHOb pic.twitter.com/Fh3SkZ7s3Y

Burgers! Burgers? Burgers.

The announcement was made by IHOP president Darren Rebelez in a very awkward interview on Fox & Friends. Rebelez assured the good-natured lickspittles on Fox & Friends that the pancakes aren’t going anywhere, but that they’re serious about these new burgers on the menu. So, just to clear up any confusion, the restaurant is still called the International House of Pancakes; they’re not making an official name change. This is all just a marketing campaign to get you to crave these new burgers like the Cowboy BBQ and the Jalapeno Kick.

Reactions to the announcement online have not been very generous. Phil DeFranco wrote:

And, Wendy’s, whose social media accounts never shy away from a fight, said:

Can't wait to try a burger from the place that decided pancakes were too hard.

But IHOP responded, saying:

We don’t want any beef with you, we just want to share our beef with the world

Even though most people online think it’s really stupid and have no desire to try IHOb burgers, market analysts think it’s a good idea. Beef prices are low, and since America is now a toxic wasteland of pain and decrepitude, people are looking for comfort food, which includes a burger drenched in barbecue sauce with a fried egg on top.
