Fans Concerned Over Mathew Perry’s Slurred Speech at The Friends Reunion
In a show, we all know, and love gathered for their 27th anniversary since the show first aired in the early ’90s. Friends has become a cultural concept and a way of life for many people around the world. The theme song “I’ll Be There for You” By The Rembrandts may be burned in your brain even if you weren’t an avid participant in watching the show. Ross’s(pants shrinking and Joey giving him the worst advice. To Rachel singing “Baby Got Back” By Sir Mix A lot to get the baby to laugh. We’ve shared and grown close to many members of The Friends Cast.
This past week we’ve gotten to witness the coming together of America’s favorite casts. Fans all across the world shared some concerns with Chandler (Mathew Perry). In a pre-interview after the trailer dropped Perry was seen with a droopy look on his face and a slight slur in his speech. Symptoms that resemble alcoholism in its prime hours. During the reunion, Jennifer Anniston was shown comforting what seems to be an emotional Mathew Perry. Since the early 2000s, Perry has battled addiction. He had a drinking problem that he sought help for before Friends began and 3 seasons into the show he was in a jet ski accident and was prescribed Vicodin which he later got dependent on.
“At least to me, it felt like I was gonna die if they didn’t laugh. And it was not healthy for sure. But I would sometimes say a line and they didn’t laugh, and I would sweat and just go like into convulsions.”

Over the years he has come to terms with his addiction yet still not completely over it. He’s been very open about his drug addiction and what he needs to do to overcome it. Speaking with Oprah and BBC news back in 2016. Intimate fans of the show expressed their care and concern after watching the reunion hoping that our dear Chandler hasn’t relapsed.
According to NZ.herald.co.NZ, Ben Winston the director of The Friends Reunion says, “ Sometimes people can be unkind and he wishes they weren’t. I thought he had some great 1 liner’s in the show and was lucky to be in his presence.” A very proper media response still implying that there are underlining issues that may need to stay out of the media. We wish Mathew Perry and the Friends cast, a happy and healthy life.
