Emmy Nominations Debut and Trend On Twitter

Earlier today, Emmy announced their nominations for 2022, and there is of course a lot of excitement. In 2022, we saw Netflix’s Squid Game quickly rise to fame and became one of Netflix’s best-performing shows. It was nominated for 14 awards, which is the most nominations a show in a foreign language has ever been nominated. HBO’S Succession is the most nominated, with 25 nominations. But, as always, some people are calling out who they think was snubbed, who they hope wins, and who they believe should not win.

Many were excited to see that Quinta Brunson was nominated for Best Actress in the comedy section, along with being nominated for Best Comedy and nominated for 5 Emmys. Only Murders in the Building was also nominated next to it, another fan-favorite show that many people were excited to see nominated.

Limited series, like The Dropout from Hulu and HBO’s The Staircase, were also nominated for Best Limited Series, which were also fan favorites with actors like Colin Firth and Amanda Seyfried that performed well when they premiered. But, with Seyfried and Toni Colette both against each other for Best Actress in a limited series, many people were having a hard time deciding who deserved the award more.

Speaking of actresses, many were excited for Zendaya, who was nominated for Best Actress and is now the youngest two-time lead acting nominee. And, Squid Game’s Jung Ho-yeon was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, which is especially exciting as this was her first role.

But, as usual, when it comes to award seasons, some were upset with the lack of nominations for some shows. For example, many thought that the final season of This is Us should have been nominated for Best Drama, but it was not. And although Only Murders in the Building received nominations, some felt that Selena Gomez deserved to be nominated for her performance, but she was not. Still, many people seemed to be overall pleased with the nominations and eagerly await to see who will receive the awards.
