Embittered Star Wars Fans Try to Raise Money to Remake the Last Jedi

Remaking "The Last Jedi" Has Just Begun https://t.co/L5yxo4ceSZ #boycottsolo #lastjediawful #starwars

At some point, we have to redefine what a ‘fan’ is, right? It’s certainly not someone who liked the damn thing if the reactions of said ‘fans’ who hated The Last Jedi are to be believed. You know, those same fans who loved the movie so much they drove one of its stars, Kelly Marie Tran, off of Instagram? They seem like they really adore this thing they want to destroy the players of. Well, apparently, even toxic fans have a few people who want to build, not destroy, amongst them, as a Twitter account popped up with one goal; to find the money to remake The Last Jedi… the way the ‘fans’ like it!

You DO NOT need to put any personal/financial info in to pledge, just an email. It was confusing to some who thought it looked like a scam, even though nowhere did it ask you for pers/fin info… Maybe Rian Johnson is spreading misinfo #LastJediAwful #RemakeTheLastJedi #StarWars pic.twitter.com/puNFwJGFPu

Now, one of the amazing things about this dumb fundraiser where they want to remake a movie they don’t even have the rights to, and promising to please all the fans, as if that’s what art should be and as if millions of people could reach a consensus, is that they won’t take any credit card numbers. So, the amount of money raised for this movie is all theoretical, but I will have you know, it raised $33 million theoretical dollars! Wow.

Now, some have… rightfully mocked this extremely stupid thing. Most notably, Seth Rogen, who pointed out there are no real investors in this thing, and they don’t own the rights. Why not make an actual real movie?

Yo I’m very confused as to what your goal is here. You literally want to spend 200 million dollars remaking the last Jedi? And someone is giving you that money? I don’t get it.

— Seth Rogen (@Sethrogen) June 21, 2018

Ok. Is someone actually investing money in this?

— Seth Rogen (@Sethrogen) June 21, 2018

How did you get investors without a script or stars or director or legal ability to make this movie? Those have been important elements in the past.

— Seth Rogen (@Sethrogen) June 21, 2018

So do you already have investors? Like, you already got people to invest money with the HOPES that Disney will let you make this, which there is no reason or historical precedent for?

— Seth Rogen (@Sethrogen) June 21, 2018

I reread your other tweet. So from what I gather you don’t have investors, so Disney would just be entrusting you with the IP in the hopes you do it justice and are able to pay for it. Is that the plan? I’m so curious how this is supposed to work.

Meanwhile, Rian Johnson, director of the original Last Jedi, had quite a lovely response of his own.

please please please please pleeeeeeeaaaase please actually happen please please please please please https://t.co/mNpSjgovax

Meanwhile, if you head over to @RMTheLastJedi, you will be treated to a series of long rants about how Star Wars is really for the adults, and despite The Last Jedi grossing one billion dollars internationally, no one likes the new Star Wars. Like Gotti before it, they claim the reviewers have it all wrong because they don’t share their opinion. Anyway, let’s just go to a bunch of people on Twitter making fun of them now.

Really? Really? Really? Not raising money for helping refugees, wounded soldiers, mental health, disabled police & firefighters, Lupus research, battered women, finding missing children, hunger, and on and on and on? You're instead raising money to remake a movie? Really? Really? https://t.co/uzr4WTJ9hQ

I gotta be honest: I actually WANT a $200 million remake of THE LAST JEDI written, produced, directed by and starring amateurs. I can think of no quicker way to demolish people's fantasies that they can do this kind of thing just as well as the professionals.

I’ve written a script for the Last Jedi remake. Make this, you cowards: pic.twitter.com/eHSRxCyISb

What do you think is going to happen when they realize no one is going to give them the money? And, that maybe if they can’t even properly raise money, they maybe should start with something smaller than remaking all of Star Wars? Let us know in the comments, or on Twitter at @WhatsTrending.
