Ellen DeGeneres Show Has Lost 1 Million Viewers After “Toxic” Workplace Scandal

“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” has dropped dramatically in views and revenue since last summer when  former employees spoke out about harassment and misconduct in the workplace, The New York Times has reported.

The daytime talk show began its 18th season last September with an apology from DeGeneres about the claims of a toxic environment behind the scenes, which led to three top producers being fired. The opening show accumulated the highest ratings for an “Ellen” premiere in four years. However, over the course of the season the show has averaged 1.5 million viewers compared to 2.6 million last year, according to the research firm Nielson. The loss of over 1 million viewers equals to a 43 percent decline, which is a far bigger drop than any of the shows competitors such as “Dr. Phil” (2.5 million) and “Live: With Kelly and Ryan (2.7 million).

Since last year, many people have shifted their opinion on DeGeneres after allegations of her mistreating employees and guests had surfaced. Viewers feel like the shows famous motto “be kind to others,” shows hypocrisy, ending their relationship with the show.  Many have taken to social media to express their opinions on the once beloved talk show host.

Just found out that the Ellen DeGeneres show has had a massive ratings decline in the last few months. And you know what? I'm glad to hear that. What a fraud she is.

People are claiming that the actions made by DeGeneres towards guests and fans are a form of bullying, therefore they are in support of the shows decline.

Ellen DeGeneres is a ruthless bully, and her show should be canceled.

Despite the low ratings of season 18, Warner Bros. has confirmed that the show will return for a 19th season in September of this year after the shows typical summer hiatus. Although there is speculation and rumors about the host calling it quits after season 19, there is no confirmation yet that the 2021-22 season will be DeGeneres’ last.
