DoorDash Had a Glitch Where Customers Could Order Food for Free
Many DoorDash customers were thrilled to see a brief glitch allowing them to order things for free. According to the New York Post, people ordered tequila, contraceptives, and food, and the excitement caused DoorDash to trend online as people shared what they got for free. And although DoorDash has a reputation for ordering cheap fast food, many people acquired things like expensive alcohol for the thousands for free.

For example, one person bought multiple bottles of liquor for 6,000 dollars. But, many suspected that once this glitch was fixed, they would be requesting the money from the cards attached to the DoorDash accounts. One person joked that nobody told them about the glitch, asking where the “loyalty” was.

According to a DoorDash representative that spoke to the New York Post, “DoorDash experienced a payment processing issue, and as a result, some users were able to check out without an authorized form of payment for a short period of time.” They also stated that they would be working with merchants to ensure they were compensated for the money they lost. ““We work to ensure that we are always offering the highest quality of service to the communities we serve, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by this.”

Some wondered if this was a marketing ploy to get people to order from DoorDash, especially since GrubHub and Prime teamed up recently and ramped up the competition. But, this theory has not been proven and has no merit, but it was a conspiracy theory nonetheless. “So y’all got a Doordash glitch to where you can get anything you wanted for free and nobody thought to start tipping workers $1,000+ ?” one person wrote. Some people also noted that people did not tip after they ordered something for free, solidifying the idea that people do not care to tip their delivery drivers.
