Do You Say ‘Uber Driver’ or ‘Oovoo Javer’?

Twitter user, @thecityofjules, shared on the social media site about the way her mum mispronounces the word Netflix and calls it “Neckflix” instead. Because parents don’t usually have the faintest idea of what their child is talking about, the names of popular modern-day things soon become a series of nicknames that sound close, but not quite right to the actual name.

But Jules was not alone, as other Twitter users began sharing their parents’ versions for the names of the things we use in our day-to-day lives. Over seven hundred people shared, but we’ve compiled the best ones that are sure to make your sides hurt from laughter.

My mama says everything with THE:
“THE Netflix “ and calls Facebook “The Timeline” and “ The Snackchat “

Some of these names are pretty good, and I am 100% behind calling Snapchat, ‘The Snackchat’ instead. We’re sure that mama is sending many snaps of her looking like a snack to all her friends, so we see where she gets the name from. I think the favourite one my mom has come up with, is calling Fajitas, ‘Fanheaters’ instead and I have to admit, I have never pronounced them the right way since.
It’s an honest mistake we all make, but parents definitely come up with the cutest names that are just so close to the real thing, but just not quite the original.
