Daniel Silva Gets One Year Sentence For The Death Of Corey La Barrie

Daniel Silva was sentenced to four years in state prison yesterday Tuesday August 25th. But he will now only be serving one year in county jail upon suspension of that sentence. Silva will also serve a five year probation period and 250 hours of community service. The sentence follows the hearing for the death of Corey La Barrie in a drunk driving accident.

Daniela Silva, a famous tattoo artist featured on the reality TV series Ink Master, was involved in a car accident on May 10th that resulted in the death of YouTuber Corey La Barrie. The two had been celebrating La Barrie’s 25th birthday earlier that day and were drinking when they got into a car together. Silva drove while La Barrie was in the passenger seat.

Police reports state the car was seen driving at high speeds before the driver lost control of the car, veering off the road and colliding with a stop sign and a tree. Reports state that Silva tried to leave the scene but was stopped by bystanders who came to help. While no other vehicles were involved in the accident, both Silva and La Barrie were injured and taken to a nearby hospital. La Barrie ultimately succumbed to his injuries and passed away that night.

Fans were devastated to hear that Corey had died in May.

What is especially sad about Corey’s death is that he was so young and his career as a YouTuber was just taking off. He has 394,000 subscribers on his  personal YouTube as well as 354,000 followers on  Instagram. He was also a part of a duo with Crawford Collins on their “Corey and Crawford” channel. The shared channel has 168,000 subscribers. Crawford made a heartfelt video dedicated to Corey after his death and posted it on their shared account.

While family, friends and fans grieved Corey’s death, his friend Daniel Silva was getting absolutely no sympathy.

headline should read “COREY LA BARRIE YOUTUBE LEGEND, BEST FRIEND, SON KILLED IN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY DRUNK DRIVER FROM INK MASTER WHO’S GOING TO MF JAIL”

It definitely does not look good that Silva tried to leave the scene of the accident. The quality of his friendship, to say the least, has been called into question by many.

The fact that Corey La Barrie died right after turning 25th in a car accident that was caused by his drunk friend who then FLED the crime scene just shows how important it is to know who surround yourself with! RIP Corey

Silva was arrested for the accident and initially was being charged for one count of second-degree murder for the death of La Barrie. He pleaded not guilty. La Barrie’s parents are in the process of suing Silva for negligence as well as, “compensatory damages, costs of suit and pre-judgment and post-judgment interest as well as any fair and equitable relief.”

Yesterday when the news of Silva’s one year jail sentence for the accident was announced, fans were up in arms. Most think that Silva’s sentencing is way too little for the severe damage he did, taking someone’s life.

life is so so so so priceless, there could never be enough time sentenced to make up for taking someone elses, especially only a year. :/ thinking about you today corey

Fans have been quick to note just how little jail time he will actually be serving.

365 days in jail. he has 216 days of credit already. that’s 149 days left of jail time. due to COVID everything is like cut in half for some reason? so like 74 days of jail time. & w good behavior he’ll be out in less than that – realistically meaning no jail time……

And just as a reminder, Silva was originally told by prosecutors he could be facing a maximum sentence of 15 years to life in state prison. But he was only sentenced to one. In COUNTY jail.

The real icing on the cake is that serving the probation could mean a chance at reducing the charge to a MISDEMEANOR in the future.

So to recap, what it looks like this court system is saying is that in America if you are a rich white male, you can kill your friend in a drunk driving accident and if you serve your probation, you’re allowed to have the charge be reduced to a misdemeanor on your record. Glad we’re all on the same page.

daniel silva is only getting probation for A YEAR. yet he tried to flee the crash AND was drinking & driving. corey james la barrie’s life isnt worth a year. still daniel is trying to play the “good guy” the good guy that killed a loving person who meant so much to us. ur joking. pic.twitter.com/ary3QpCN6o

This whole situation just proves the following sad reality.

And y’all are really surprised, is he white?? Is he rich?? Aight then

Not surprised, this is America, where if you’re black or POC you can go to jail for anything and get the max sentence, but if you’re white or rich can almost get out of anything or get a slap on the wrist

We are sending our condolences to La Barrie’s family and all those who are grieving him right now. How are you feeling about Silva’s sentencing? Is it fair? Do you think it should have been longer?
