Another Snippet From Taylor Swift’s ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’ Drops Amid Scootergate

A snippet of Taylor Swift‘s “Look What You Made Me Do” from her “Reputation” album was featured in a new advertisement for the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series “Wilderness”. The show hits streaming on September 15.

The trailer features a “Gone Girl” meets “You” esque crime of passion drama. Naturally, an infamous revenge album serves as the soundtrack.

Fans of Swift were immediate to pick up on the timing of the track’s teaser. “Reputation” is Swift’s famous synth pop clap back at some of her harshest critics, exes, and enemies. “Look What You Made Me Do” is regarded as a revenge anthem. This week, music manager Scooter Braun continues to be dropped by a number of his high profile clients, ranging from Idina Menzel to Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato.

In June 2019, Braun famously purchased Swift’s first six original studio album masters, which were created from when Swift was a teenager through her mid-20s. The masters were acquired through Ithaca Holdings for $330 million, after Braun bought Swift’s longtime record label, Big Machine Records. This resulted in an abrupt shift for Swift to Republic Records. The masters were acquired without Swift’s consent. The deal would rapidly become one of the most controversial business moves in music history.

Swift went on to announce re-recordings of all six of the masters Braun bought. Four years after Swift’s re-record announcement to the date, allegations of botched business practices continue to arise surrounding Braun.Thus far, Swift has completed “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)”, “Red (Taylor’s Version)”, “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” and will release “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” this October. The remaining two masters in need of re-records are “Reputation” and Swift’s self-titled debut “Taylor Swift”.

Swift Fan Theories

The “Wilderness” trailer offers the second snippet of “Reputation (Taylor’s Version).” The first, “Delicate”, can be heard in the second season of “The Summer I Turned Pretty”, also on Amazon Prime Video. The recurring television appearances from tracks on the album have led many to believe that “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” will be the next re-recording.

The “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” theories began swirling when Jenny Han, the author of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” novels, who now serves as an executive producer on the Prime Video adapted series, confirmed that her team made sure to use Taylor’s Version of “Delicate” in the show.

Han herself is an outspoken fan of the singer’s music, and frequently incorporates it into pivotal scenes in the popular series.

Fans of the singer who have long followed along with the re-records predict that “Reputation” will be next, followed by “Taylor Swift”.  A popular theory circulating about this order is that Swift plans to order the albums this way in order to finally take back the two most important things–her reputation and her name.

“1989 (Taylor’s Version)” hits streaming on October 27. Swift has not confirmed or denied whether “Reputation” is next, but fans are certainly ready for it.
