Andrew Tate Charged with Human Trafficking and Rape Used for OnlyFans Account

Controversial influencer and former professional kickboxer Andrew Tate has officially been charged with rape and human trafficking offences in Romania. 

The BBC officially reported that Tate, who was arrested by Romanian anti-terrorism authorities back in December of 2022, has been charged for his crimes. The indictment against the former boxer also states that he has been charged with “forming organized crime group to sexually exploit women.”

According to the indictment, Tate and three others have been engaging in human trafficking in Romania as well as the U.S. and the U.K. Tate’s brother Tristan has also been charged in the crimes alongside the two other suspects.

The brothers have been under house arrest in Bucharest, Romania since March.

On Tuesday morning, Romanian prosecutors charged the brothers, who are now set to face trial. According to other reports, the charges brought against the trio involve seven women, which all have denied any wrongdoing involvement with. 

As What’s Trending previously reported, prosecutors believe that the trio were recruiting and exploiting women for the creation of pornographic clips on sites like OnlyFans. 

For those unfamiliar with Tate, the disgraces influencer rose to fame as a guest on the UK. edition of “Big Brother” in 2016. The former boxer has also been criticized for his homophobic and racist comments made on Twitter. Tate was eventually kicked off the show when a video surfaced where he appeared to be hitting a woman with a belt. Both claimed the situation and actions were consensual, but Tate was still removed.

In addition, Andrew Tate been called out for his toxic masculinity online and handling of his personal money. The influencer was banned from Twitter back in 2017 before Elon Musk purchased the platform. 

The Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), alleged in a statement Tuesday that Tate and his co-defendants created a criminal group in 2021.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Tate’s legal defense stated “While this news is undoubtedly predictable, we embrace the opportunity it presents to demonstrate their innocence and vindicate their reputation.” The representative continued saying, “Our primary focus will be to establish the truth and ensure a fair and impartial examination of the evidence the legal team will submit.”

According to the daily newspaper Gândul, The Tate brothers were under investigation since April of 2022.

The publication said the investigation began after a complaint was received that “a woman with American citizenship was being forcibly held at their residence.” Several young women were found in a building about 500 yards away from the Bucharest villa, and an American woman said that she met one of the men through social media. 

As also previously reported by What’s Trending, Andrew Tate’s luxury car collection has been compromised by Romanian authorities. 

As now part of the indictment, prosecutors ordered the confiscation of luxury assets from the Tate brothers including 15-high value cars, 14 luxury watches, and £440,000 held in cryptocurrency. Tate previously reported to be a self made trillionaire, but his value most likely suggests around £10 million.

Responding to a tweet which appeared to mis-translate DIICOT’s estimated value of his crypto assets, Tate accused prosecutors of ‘stealing his wealth’.
