A Few Things To Know Before Purchasing The PlayStation 5

The moment every gamer has been waiting for is getting closer. If you’re looking forward to getting your hands on a PlayStation 5 on launch day there are some things you need to know. All PlayStation5 sales will be made online. 

PS5 Release Date

Sony confirmed that there will be no in-store consoles available on launch day. Depending on your region the PS5 will be released either November 12 or November 19. The PS5 released date in North America and the South Pacific is November 12.  On November 12 the PS5 will be released in the United States and as for November 19 it will be released in Europe.

There have been many pre-orders so far. As for those who pre-ordered for pick-up at their local retailer, they are required to schedule an appointment time for pick up. In order to keep gamers, employees, and retailers safe during the ongoing pandemic, purchases for the PS5 will be conducted online. Stores safety protocols must be taken when picking up the console in person. 

“Please don’t plan on camping out or lining up at your local retailer on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase,” said Sid Shuman, Sony’s Senior Director, SIE Content Communications. “Be safe, stay home and place your order online.”

Price and Differences

There are two options when purchasing the console. The standard PS5 retails for $499 which includes a disc drive for DVDs, 4K Blu-ray movies, along with PS4 games. The Digital Edition is an identical version of the standard but discless. It is in retail for $399. If purchasing the PS5 Digital Edition you have to keep in mind that you’ll never be able to purchase any disc video games.

The Standard version gives you a bit more flexibility where you have the benefit of using physical and digital media. Also, your PS4 games won’t be abandoned. The Digital Edition appears slightly slimmer than the Standard since it doesn’t have the disc drive. In addition, both consoles remain with the same-sized 825 GB storage drive.

DualSense Controller 

Of course a controller comes with when purchasing the console of your choice. The controller happens to be a DualSense wireless controller. It has a futuristic design and comes in a two-tone color scheme. Other than that the controller consists of the same seamless buttons, parallel thumbs sticks, and the two shoulder pads on top. The technology behind the controller gives the player a better experience while playing in new advance ways.

First of all, the haptic feedback lets the player feel all movements and surfaces mimicking the actions of any game. Having the motion controls allows player to change how much force is required to press down the buttons. There is also a built in microphone on the controller. It has a battery life of 4 to 6 hours. Although there aren’t many major differences with the controller it is all about having an experience while using it.

Accessories

Sony also will also be releasing a wireless headset, media remote, and an HD camera. The Pulse 3D wireless headset connects has a battery life of 12 hours and comes with rechargeable batteries. It also comes wireless USB adapter so you’ll be able to use on the computer. The Media remote is convenient when watching movies being able to control the settings. It comes with four streaming services such as Netflix, Disney+, Spotify, and YouTube. The HD camera also the player to stream and record gameplay. It gives the player the option to change the background giving them the experience of being in the actual game. The bright side to this effect is that no green screen is need.

Reactions

Gamers have been waiting for this day to come and their dreams are now coming soon. There’s both excitement and eagerness to purchase the PS5. As mentioned, before some people have already pre-ordered their console and are now waiting to receive it.

The pre-orders have been stressful and some don’t have a delivery date yet.
