If you watched the Oscars on Sunday you would have seen this odd moment where Jennifer Garner appeared to come to a stunning realization.

But, what realization was it? That was the question posed by Jezebel writer Bobby Finger on his Twitter on Sunday night, and the Internet was happy to answer Bobby’s question. Check out some responses below —

Matthew M on YouTube, however, had a legitimate guess as to what Garner was reacting to. He commented: “Actually, for those who were actually watching, at that moment someone on stage at the end of the performance pulled out what looked like a Puerto Rico flag and my guess is Jennifer Garner freaked for a second thinking something bad was going to happen not realizing who’s flag it was at that moment.” What he’s talking about is Andra Day and Common’s performance of the song “Stand Up For Something,” which was nominated for Best Original Song from the film Marshall. At the end of the performance, chef Jose Andres holds up the Puerto Rican flag, as a symbol of standing with the people of Puerto Rico after the hurricane devastation they faced last year. But, Jennifer Garner doesn’t appear in the immediate applause shots after the video — at least, not in the ones we could find online, so who knows. Maybe she did realize something a solid 15 seconds after the performance ended. It only took Garner herself a day and a half to get in on the fun. She posted a few possible thoughts she might have been having to her Instagram story.
