Pizza Hut Employee Takes on 3 Armed Robbers

  • A Pizza Hut employee recently took on three armed suspects who were attempting to rob the store. Demetrius Carnegie wasn’t even working at the time. He was visiting his sister who also works at the Pizza Hut, when three masked men entered with guns, demanding money. Carnegie sprang into action, attacking the perps until they fled out of the store with nothing. He told the local FOX affiliate: “Through my head it was just ‘go into security mode’ and take care of what I gotta take care of.” The police are hailing Carnegie as a hero. Carnegie, however, is just the latest retail employee to find themselves capable of remarkable bravery. Here are some of our other favorite Ordinary Employee Heroes. Tina Ring and daughter Ashley Lee thwarted an attempted robbery of their liquor store in February.

  • Both mother and daughter got off a shot against the robber, who actually drove himself to the hospital after escaping. He was briefly in critical condition and is now being held on $1 million bond. Authorities suspect he’s been responsible for 10 robberies in the area this year. In Denver, a 16-year-old employee of clothing store Plato’s Closet was assaulted by a robber, and dragged into a backroom. The teen’s co-worker, WonDrae Hart, was back there and reacted quickly. The teen girl and her mother are calling Hart a hero, and there is a GoFundMe page up to raise money for his medical bills, as he sustained several bite marks during the scuffle. Finally, we bring you the thrilling story of Mitch Penneau. The manager of a KFC in Statesville, North Carolina, Penneau had been attacked, clubbed in the head with a rifle, with the gun pressed against his head.

  • He heard a click — he knew then the gun had misfired, and the robber had intended to shoot him. That’s when he made his move. Eventually, the thief begged Penneau to let him go. When he was sure the rifle was out of ammunition, he let go, and the robber ran out into the night. Would you put your life on the line to protect the register at Pizza Hut?
