Instagram Star Fired From Job After Racist Tweets

  •  Popular Instagram account @girlwithnojob has 2.8 million followers — it’s a meme account run by Claudia Oshry Offer. Her sister, Jackie, also runs a popular Instagram account, @jackieoproblems.  On Wednesday, their careers were put in Jeopardy. Their daily talk show, The Morning Breath, was cancelled after it was discovered that they are the daughter of Pamela Geller. Weller is known for her conservative, extremist, conspiracy-ridden, and Islamophobic views and blog. To give you an example of who their mom is — she was banned from entering England after the British government said having her in the country would “not be conducive to the public good.”  The digital company called Oath (who made The Morning Breath) made this statement — “The Morning Breath,” an Oath social-media show, is being cancelled immediately and we have launched an internal investigation and will take other appropriate steps based on the results of the investigation.”  So, it may come across as, “Oh. These girls got fired because of their mom?” Well, it goes deeper. After it was revealed Geller was their mother, the Internet did what the Internet does best — they dug up old tweets. It turns out, Claudia and her sister had some rude and racist tweets of their own, mostly directed to our president at the time, Barack Obama.  One of the tweets from Claudia read: “I can’t help but feel like I’m funding terrorism when I take a cab.” The tweets have since been deleted.  Like anybody who’s been exposed for anything controversial — they apologized. Claudia uploaded a video to Instagram — watch here — and Jackie posted the following statement to Twitter: “I want to express my utmost sincere apologies for the indefensible comments that I’ve said in the past. That is not a reflection of who I am as a person today and I am truly sorry to everyone I’ve offended and let down. All I can do now is reflect and learn from this experience by showing everyone the good that is in my heart.”  Following her video, Claudia also released the following statement: “We want to be clear to our audience and fans that our political and cultural beliefs are not anti-Muslim or anti-anyone. Our views are separate from our mother’s.  As of now, both sisters have deleted their Twitter accounts, but are still active on Instagram.  What do you think of this debacle?
