Missing Skier FOUND 3,000 Miles From Where He Disappeared
A missing skier showed up a week later safe and sound, but over 3,000 miles away from where he disappeared. Constantinos “Danny” Filippidis was reported missing on February 7 from Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington, NY. He was apparently supposed to be with others getting a ride down the slopes and never showed up. 140 people a day went through that area of the Adirondack Mountains looking for Filippidis, to no avail. The search ended on February 13 when, six days after disappearing, he called his wife. He was in Sacramento, California, 2,900 miles away from Whiteface Mountain, visibly confused and still wearing his ski clothes from six days earlier. At a local hospital, he was unable to give direct answers and said he thought he’d suffered a head injury while skiing. He also told authorities he hitched a ride on a big rig and slept most of the way to California. Filippidis is a firefighter from Toronto, so if he was trying to get home, he went a bit too far — Sacramento to Toronto is about 2,500 miles. One thing investigators need to know is how he got the iPhone that he used to call his wife because according to them, his credit cards haven’t been used. He also got a haircut, which we understand. Don’t you always feel a little cleaner after having your hair done? Unfortunately, Filippidis has to return to the Adirondacks before he can go home to Toronto. Authorities still need him to answer some more questions about the last six days. The Toronto Fire Chief tweeted his relief that Filipiddis was found safely, but didn’t want to comment further since there’s still an ongoing investigation.

Mysteries like this are naturally compelling, so we’re pleased to report that online conspiracy theorists are already hard at work. The YouTube channel The Outer Light posted a 53-minute video attempting to connect the Filipiddis disappearance with clusters of other individuals who have disappeared in National Parks, and even to the story of the Pied Piper, which he believes is based on a true story of a mass alien abduction of children.

So, sure. It’s possible he was abducted by aliens, had his memory wiped, and was deposited in Sacramento. It’s also possible that he’s still in the mountains and this is his unknown evil twin trying to take over his life. Or, maybe he hitched a ride and is confused because of a head injury — but that’s a boring story. What do you think? Was Danny Filippidis abducted by aliens or is the obvious, logical explanation true? Let us know in the comments below. For more stories, follow us on Twitter at @WhatsTrending.
