Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino Heads to Miami Following Guilty Plea
When it was first announced that the cast of the beloved MTV series, Jersey Shore would be filming a “reunion” series, fans were devastated to learn Samantha “Sammi Sweetheart” Giancola would not be returning. A source told Us Weekly — “Everyone was invited to come on the show but Sammi was the only one who didn’t want to. A big reason for that was because she didn’t want to be around Ronnie. She has been enjoying her life off of TV and didn’t want to change that.” When it was finally announced the cast would be heading back to Miami to film Jersey Shore: Family Vacation — yes, good ol’ “Who wrote the note?” Miami — it was feared that Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino would not be participating in the show as well. The reasoning? Let’s just say it’s a lot more complicated than Sammi’s. In 2014, Mike (35) and Marc Sorrentino (38), were charged with conspiracy to commit fraud. The brothers were accused of failing to pay income tax owed on Mike’s $8.9 million income from 2010 to 2012. Just this past Friday (January 19), Mike pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion, while Marc pleaded guilty to aiding in the preparation of a false and fraudulent tax return in federal court in Newark, New Jersey. In a statement, US Attorney Craig Carpenito said — What the defendants admitted to today, quite simply, is tantamount to stealing money from their fellow taxpayers. All of us are required by law to pay our fair share of taxes. Celebrity status does not provide a free pass to this obligation. Though Mike is now facing a maximum of five years in prison — with Marc facing a maximum of three — this has not caused him to lose sight of spending time with his roommates in Miami. In fact, Mike was granted permission to film Jersey Shore: Family Vacation before his sentencing on April 25. So, to all of you Situation fans out there — don’t worry. He’ll be in Miami. Mike even took to his Instagram yesterday to post his arrival. And, guess who was there to greet him? None other than Pauly D and Vinny! That’s right — MVP is back in action, y’all.
Though no release date has been set for the new series, we absolutely can’t wait to see what the roommates get into in Miami. Will you be watching Jersey Shore: Family Vacation? Let us know in the comments. Follow us on Twitter at @WhatsTrending. Follow Alejandra Moedano on Twitter at @alemmoedano.
