Folks. Will Smith is for some reason trying to become a YouTube star. Now, we like us some YouTube culture, but we do have to wonder — why would a man who can make millions for a few months of mainstream work enter the oft-misunderstood genre of YouTube vlogging? Most of the time it’s considered a victory when a YouTuber heads into the mainstream, so why would the most mainstream star try to head into this?

Well, according to many — it’s because he’s trying to keep up! Will Smith did not become a superstar by accident — the guy knows how to choose the right projects, and has a history of dabbling with a lot of art forms. Remember when he was a rapper? Mr. Fresh Prince himself? Well, now he’s YouTuber. Will Smith knows so much of the growing audience is on YouTube and he refuses to miss out on it.

So, what do Will Smith’s videos consist of? It sounds like he’s still trying to figure out his voice. Since he began his channel at the end of December, a good amount of the videos are about him touring to promote his Orc cop movie, “Bright.” There’s also one of him demanding to tell his adult son, Trey, that he had sex to make him (because he thinks that’s interesting), and just two days ago, he launched “Will Smith Wisdom,” where he gives life-affirming advice. He talks about how to not see failure as this all destroying negative, but embrace its more positive attributes. And you know what Will Smith? Thank you.

In the meanwhile, you’ll see Will Smith pretty soon as the genie in the new Aladdin, so we think he’s going to be just fine.
