Stage Collapses Killing DJ During Music Festival

  • A festival stage was taken apart completely by strong winds causing the death of DJ Kaleb who was mid performance. 30-year-old DJ Kaleb Freitas was performing a set during Atmosphere Music Festival in Brazil when strong winds from a passing storm caused the stage to cave in. He was struck in the head by debris from the collapse and rushed to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The venue was the first to confirm the news translated on their website to, “The Undersecretary of the State Park of Exhibitions Assis Brasil comes through this note to mourn the death of DJ and producer Kaleb Freitas, victim of a tragedy during the Music Festival Event, held on December 17, 2017 in the premises of PEEAB.”  The Atmosphere Facebook page released a statement which translated to- “We always cherish the security of our audience, following all the processes, reports and authorizations requested by the local authorities. And to our audience we will keep them informed of all our actions to keep the truth about the facts that have occurred. Anyway, we’re sorry, we lost a friend, an artist. Our priority is to assist the wounded and their families.” Other festival goers were treated for injuries, but there are too many conflicting reports on how many were taken to the hospital. According to local firefighters, the event had all the necessary permits for the stage. But an investigation has launched to look into why the festival carried on despite severe weather warnings of gale force winds. The venue said: “We inform that the necessary measures are already being taken to elucidate the facts that have occurred, as well as the investigation of possible responsibilities. We reaffirm the commitment of this Administration to ensure the safety of people who attend PEEAB facilities.” Please leave your kind thoughts in the comments below or at @WhatsTrending on Twitter.
