Twitter Unverifies A Bunch of Nazis, Internet Rejoices
Twitter’s verification process has always been a strange animal. Although Twitter claims the process isn’t meant to be an endorsement — the fact that Twitter prefers users with the blue check marks, sending them to the top of the chain at responses and giving them special preference for reporting trouble tweets — tells a different story. Twitter’s response to its abuse problems have been… absurdly slow to say the least. One of its biggest issues has been the verification of hard right white supremacists — such as Richard Spencer. Well, the shoe finally dropped, buddy! In an explanation, Twitter proclaimed- ‘Hey. We don’t need your gross kind anymore’. Because guys. For a while there it looked like they just sort of didn’t care. Good to see that turning around. Amongst the White Supremacists unverified we have Laura Loomer, Richard Spencer and Jason Kessler — the organizer of the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville. The white supremacists have— predictably— lost their crap about this. Check out Laura Loomey comparing losing her blue check mark for being incredibly racist to the suffering of the Jews in the Holocaust. Gross work all.
Anyway, will you be using Twitter more now that it’s free of verified Nazis? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter at @WhatsTrending.
