5 Women Accuse Louis C.K. of Sexual Misconduct
After calling off his movie premiere and an appearance on Stephen Colbert, a much anticipated New York Times article dropped with 5 women’s accounts of Louis CK’s sexual misconduct. On Thursday, the premiere of Louis CK’s controversial film “I Love You, Daddy” was cancelled along with his scheduled appearance tomorrow night on The Late Show. Rumors of an incriminating New York Times article surrounding the comedian swirled around the internet, until the article was finally published. Heavily outlined in the article are accusations from Chicago based comedy duo Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov. After an event in Colorado in 2002, Louis CK invited the women to his hotel room for a nightcap. While Goodman and Wolov assumed his intentions were to just celebrate a good show, immediately upon arriving in the hotel room he asked them if he could take out his penis. They thought it was a joke and laughed it off. “And then he really did it,” Ms. Goodman said in an interview with The New York Times. “He proceeded to take all of his clothes off, and get completely naked, and started masturbating.”” When they attempted to share their story with fellow comedians, Louis CK’s manager Dave Becky (who also manages Aziz Ansari, Kevin Hart, and Amy Poehler) told their managers that they should stop talking openly about the incident. Becky said, “I don’t recall the exact specifics of the conversation, but know I never threatened anyone.” Comedian Rebecca Corry recalls an experience while she was appearing in a pilot guest starring Louis CK. ““He asked if we could go to my dressing room so he could masturbate in front of me.” Stunned and angry, Ms. Corry said she declined, and pointed out that he had a daughter and a pregnant wife. “His face got red,” she recalled, “and he told me he had issues.” These allegations were backed up on the record by Courtney Cox and David Arquette, who were executive producers of the pilot. Cox said, “What happened to Rebecca on that set was awful.” Writer, illustrator, and performer Abby Schachner called Louis CK in 2003 to invite him to her show. He went from mentioning she was cute to telling her his sexual fantasies. She said she could hear him close the blinds, breathe heavily, and talking softly before she realized he was masturbating over the phone with her. She said, “I definitely wasn’t encouraging it.” But she didn’t know how to end it, either. “You want to believe it’s not happening,” The fifth woman chose to go unnamed but recounted a story from the late 90’s working on The Chris Rock Show. She said she was repeatedly asked by Louis CK if he could masturbate in front of her. She was in her early 20’s at the time, and eventually went along with his requests. She looks back on it saying, “It was something that I knew was wrong. I think the big piece of why I said yes was because of the culture. He abused his power.” Every account reported in the article was backed up by either colleagues or friends who heard these women’s stories soon after they happened. When the New York Times reached out for a statement from Louis CK, his publicist Lewis Kay said, “Louis is not going to answer any questions” Now this was shocking to most, but has been addressed before. In 2012, Gawker reported the comedy duo’s story without naming Louis CK, and again in 2015 Gawker published an article about a man who had contact with Louis CK regarding him masturbating in front of women.
