Legendary Musician Tom Petty, Dead at 66

  •  Legendary musician Tom Petty has went into cardiac arrest and died last night at 66 at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital. Petty was found in his Malibu home at 10:52 am in the morning and was rushed to the hospital shortly thereafter where it was discovered he was not showing signs of brain activity.  Tom Petty was the frontman of the undeniable Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and created such American classics as “American Girl”, “Stop Turning My Heart Around” and “Freefallin’”. The band recently celebrated their 40th anniversary at the Hollywood Bowl that included 53 shows in 24 states. YouTube has a treasure trove of his performances, and his performance of “You Don’t Know How It Feels” from a 1994 SNL with Dave Grohl is posted above.  Tom Petty’s legendary influence was undeniable, and musicians and fans alike were celebrating his incredible life in reaction to the news.
